Sitting position on ridable entity isn't correct

For a mod I am creating unicorns, basically a horse but larger.

I made the model, skin and a few animations in blockbench, imported these in Mcreator 2025.3 and launched the game.

The problem starts when I want to ride it: the game doesn't put me on the unicorn but behind on the left of it.

I already tried this tutorial: [Tutorial]2024.4 Riding Position and it worked for 1 position, but when I started looking around and the unicorn followed my sight, my position changed again, seemingly centered around the same position I first had.

The hitbox also seems positioned behind and left of the unicorn. I know how to change this one.

anyone who knows what went wrong here? I have already been searching for a few days without succes. (first time mod maker)

Something is wrong with your model, my guess is it is offset incorrectly. The good news is that the model and skin can just be moved without problem. I don't have enough experience with animations to know if they will translate easily, but this is the only way I can think of, if my guess is correct.

Basically, you just need to move the model in blockbench so that it is centered over the starting grid-plate-thing. Then re-export and re-import it. And that should fix the problem.

If it is already centered in blockbench, then I'm not sure what's going on.
