Need help with updating mcreator software.

I tried downloading the newest version of Mcreator as my current version is an outdated beta. But every time, I try to launch the new version via the .EXE file it always says "this program requires a java runtime environment of 21.0.0 (64-bit)" I downloaded the java version listed and it still refuses to let me launch the program no matter what I do to it.
