Making animated item without geckolib

So i updated my mcreator project and in newer versions geckolib does'nt work. But i want to make animated items. I know how to make animated entites with the new animation system but how do i make items animate. I have 3d model and animations ready but is there a way to animate them like geckolib in newer versions of mcreator?
