Detect mob/player/entity

Detect mob/player/entity

I'm trying to set up a procedure (if possible) to detect when a mob/player/entity entered has entered or is within the defined range.

Think of this block as a proximity detector or turret. If a mob/player/entity comes within X blocks of the block, do nasty things!

 

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm working on something almost like this!
is a trap block when you collide with it takes damage just like the magma block! But I think you can do this using the new version!
