Mod Checking

Is there a way I can download someone's mcreator mod and check it's codes and stuff? Im not gonna do anything with it or say it's mine i i just want to look at how they did certain stuff. Would i need permission and would it be illegal if i didn't?

You need to have the modder attach their workspace. Otherwise the only thing you have is .class files that you could theoretically decompile.

Theoretically as in, it isn't really intended to be done. But you can find how to decompile code on any search engine.
