Using blocks from other mods?

So with the deep dark being delayed to 1.19, I want to make my own version of it for my personal 1.16 modpack. Quark by Vazkii adds its own backport of deepslate, and that's what I want to use as the main block in this dimension, but I can't figure out how. Does anybody know how to do that?
