How to prevent an entity from entering boat by itself

Hello, I have mob what is considered as mini-boss. It looks like the same as the player (Using Biped model) and does melee attacks. I want to block him from entering the boat by itself because he is unable to attack and it completely ruin the fight. Is there aby way/procedure I can use to prevent jim to do it? Thanks for answers
