Opening newly created guis after updating mcreator always crashes the game

If you update your mcreator to a newer version and open a newly created gui it crashes your game. I've had this problem before and it always happens after updating mcreator. Is there any solution to this so I don't have to recreate my whole mod? This isn't a problem with slots as the gui has no slots.
