what to do if the java model does not support texture

when I imported the model of the mob (java) in MCreator 2021.3 (mod for version 1.16.5) I immediately go to the animation, and does not allow to insert the texture, when I want to insert it: "This model does not support texture", please help

if you're updating to 1.17+…

if you're updating to 1.17+ you need to update the model. 1.17 changed how JAVA models work.
