How do I add custom effects to food when I feed a dog?

I made a food item called offal which is known to be good for dogs. It is meant to be a during fight item to feed your dog if they took a bunch of hits during a fight. To make it better than normal meat I wanted to add a absorption effect to the dog when they consume the food allowing them to keep fighting with you, as well as some regeneration.

I couldn't figure out how to do this can somebody help?
