Gradle was not able to access the internet connection

I have tried everything, I have been troubleshooting for the past hour and nothing. At first it was just normal error messages, but finally I got this one (gradle cannot access internet because connection/firewall) I turned of the firewall, nothing. Allowed access to it through the firewall (even though it was off) nothing! also every once in awhile I get the same error message I did before I got this one which was:
