Imagine a mod that brings the fun of Sci-Fi based based lazer blasters through the combination of magic based materials!
Ethereal Blasters is a mod [IN DEVELOPMENT STILL] that brings the use of magic into modernized forms! Lazer-like Blasters! There is a total of 12 New and Unique Blasters that can be crafted using their respective materials, in which some are easier while others provide a challenge into crafting!
The novice difficulty Ethereal Blasters (or Tier 1 Blasters) include:
- Carmine - Redstone
- Oxidized - Copper
- Tempered - Iron
- Guilded - Gold
The challenger difficulty Ethereal Blasters (or Tier 2 Blasters) include:
- Azure - Lapis Lazuli
- Ametrine - Amethyst
- Verdant - Emerald
- Brilliant - Diamond
The legendary difficulty Ethereal Blasters (or Tier 3 Blasters) include:
- Blazing - Nether: Bastion
- Soulferno - Nether: Fortress
- Voidic - End
- Echo - Deep Dark
To craft these new blasters, you'll have to gather several resources in which will need to be gathered, smelted, crafted, and traded with in order to forge the new blasters! I recommend using JEI to help in the assistance of knowing the specific crafting recipes as these are not "starter weapons" that can easily be obtained!
Starting with the most basic materials needed to forge the Blasters, you may notice two new "ores" that spawn within your world now: Ethereal Debris and Heartstone Ore.
Ethereal Debris: Much like Ancient Debris, this brilliant glowing material was once the blasters that the ancient builders used long ago to defend their villages! Now decayed into the deepest portions of the overworld perhaps they can be reforged into something new?
- Ethereal Debris is a block similar to Ancient Debris but it only spawns within the overworld at the lowest levels of the deepslate layer. This block can easily be distinguished by its silvery-blue appearance and a faint glow to it as well. Smelting down one block of Ethereal Debris rewards the player with one Ethereal Scrap in which can be used to make an Ethereal Ingot (The Base off all Ethereal Blaster Recipes).
Heartstone Ore: An intriguing ore with a faint glow that stands out compared to most ores found within the depths of the overworld. This pinkish-purple ore resembles emerald but instead yeilds a spectacle of a gem known as a Heartstone, perhaps it forms the base for what the Ancient Builders used to make various Blasters!
- Heartstone Ore, which comes in both Stone and Deepslate variants is a pinkish-purple ore that forms the foundation of all the crafting recipes for Ethereal Stones (the various stones that are used to make each unique blaster). Usually spawning up to 6 in a vein, mining this ore with a diamond pickaxe will yeild 1 heartstone ore.
Crafting Ethereal Ingots and Ethereal Stones
To create Ethereal Ingots, the player must first collect 4 ethereal scraps as stated before along with 4 cryoshards (read below to learn more about Cryoshards). When combined in a crafting table the same way a netherite ingot is crafted, the player will be rewarded with one Ethereal Ingot in which as previously said, has many uses towards making the Blasters!
- Cryoshards: Created from a blasting crying obsidian in a Blast Furnace, these shards form the foundation for creating ethereal ingots, as well as being used in some recipes for ethereal stones, blasters, and even can be further smelted into Cryodust which also has many uses towards the Ethereal Blasters mod! Consult JEI to help see what recipes Cryoshards and Cryodust can be used for!
For creating Ethereal Stones, the player must at least have 1 Heartstone, in which that forms the foundation for making the desired Ethereal Stone: There are 12 Ethereal Stones based on the 12 Blasters: Carmine, Oxidized, Tempered, Guilded, Azure, Ametrine, Verdant, Brilliant, Blazing, Soulferno, Voidic, and Echo. The player must also have the required crafting ingredients that surround the Heartstone within a Crafting Table. Consult JEI to help see which ingredients are needed for each Stone.
- Side note: Some Ethereal Stones may be easier to craft than others and this is intentional based on the Tier system of each Blaster. The more powerful the blaster, the harder it becomes to craft!
Ethereal Smithing Templates (Cuz the Mod wasn't hard enough already!)
The Ethereal Smithing Templates represent the final ingredient needed to Smith the 12 Unique Etheral Blasters. None of the Ethereal Smithing Templates can be crafted and can only be found throughout various loot locations: For example, the Blazing Smithing Template can only be found wihtin a Nether Fortress! However, all hope isn't lost as these templates can alternatively be traded with by the Ethereal Gunsmith (a villager who can be obtained by placing down an Ethereal Forge Block!)
- Ethereal Gunsmith: As stated before, this enigmatic villager can only be obtained by employing the villager with the Ethereal Forge block in which he will offer many trades based on the the mod! The more you advance his trades, the better materials he will offer, in which can be convienient when looking for materials such as Ethereal Stones and Ethereal Smithing Templates.
FINALLY Crafting the Ethereal Blasters!
After the player obtains 1 Ethereal Ingot, 1 Ethereal Stone of choice, and 1 matching Ethereal Smithing Template, the player can then finally craft the desired Blaster! By placing these three elements into a smithing table, the player is then rewarded with that Blaster.
Each Blaster is unique in its own way with a specialized projectile and ability to that Blaster. For example, Oxidized will summon a lightning bolt upon hitting an enemy!
NEW: Understanding and Using Ethereal Essences
Ethereal Essence: As you may know, since the Ethereal Blasters are based of Sci-Fi lazer guns, obviously they must require some sort of Arcane-like ammunition. This is where the Ethereal Essences come in; just like before there are 12 different ammunitions for each of the 12 blasters in which only the specified essence will work for that Blaster. While some of the Ethereal Essences may be more expensive than the other, all yield 16 essence upon crafting. Again, I recommend using JEI in combination with this mod to help understand the crafting recipes better!
Side note: As comments come in on how to improve this mod, I may tweak the amount of essence rewarded to the player based on how difficult the essence is to craft!
Final Notes about this Mod
Ethereal Blasters is a mod developed by Beech11901 (Me) and is inspired off a few different mods/concepts that helped me to start making this project. The inspiration and credits of creating this mod go to TACZ Guns Mod, Ars Nouveau, Marium's Souls-like Weaponry, and Simply Swords. These are all fantastic projects, and I appreciate the mod developers creating such amazing projects within the CurseForge community.
This mod may seem very basic and underdeveloped at the moment but that as I see all mods is the origin point in which a mod creator starts. As time continues on, and I get feedback about how to improve this project, Ethereal Blasters will become a more developed mod within its maturity. While it's still in its infancy please understand that there will be many changes and fixes to optimize this Magic-Gun based mod! If you have any helpful feedback, please let me know here on CurseForge through the comments sections so I can improve upon this early-stage mod!
Finally, if you would like to Port this mod, or make Mod Compats, I am completely fine with this, but please be sure to message me first and ask if it is okay to make a modified version of this mod!
Ethereal Blasters - Changelog - INDEV 0.6.1
The "Ethereal Rebirth and Reworks Update!"
Ethereal Blasters is now version 0.6.1! This update brings significant changes to many of the mod's aspects which will all be detailed below!
Important Side Note: I apologize for a delay in relases for the 0.6.X Series of this mod, I have been struggling with inspiration on new ideas for the mod recently, and furthermore, my PC suffered a memory issue with its drive resulting in a complete system reset. This unfortunately means that the latest version of Ethereal Blasters that I had been developing was lost in the reset pushing me back a few versions. However, I've been working end to end to make sure that the content within the latest update was and is up to the best ability to what it was before. Some textures may not exactly look the same and there may be significant changes you'll notice to the mechanics of this mod. Please be patient as I try to recreate features that were lost in the previous version.
Major Changes to Ethereal Blasters!
- Modloader and Minecraft Version!
- Ethereal Blasters has now been updated to Minecraft 1.21.1, and furthermore this mod now uses the NeoForge modloader instead. This was to keep up with current player trends and mod versions that are popular. There may eventually be a Fabric version planned but it is not currently in the soon future.
- Block Changes!
- Ethereal Forge: The Ethereal Forge GUI has received a major texture change giving it more of an artistic (while still staying simplistic) appearance!
- Molten Arcanium (Arcanium Fluid Block): Molten Arcanium now has a more defined gradient similar to Lava when placed (or created) within the world allowing for more visible detail!
- Molten Legenderium (Legenderium Fluid Block): Molten Legenderium now has a more defined gradient similar to Lava when placed (or created) within the world allowing for more visible detail!
- Item Changes!
- Ethereal Scrap: Ethereal Scrap now has a better-defined texture similar to Netherite Scrap to give it more of an appearance to metallic material!
- Other recreated items (due to the loss) such as the Arcanium Ingot, Legenderium Ingot, Legendstone, Fusion Tablets, etc. may have slightly altered texture appearances due to my best ability of trying to recreate them.
- Tier 2 Blasters: Tier 2 Blasters have been brought back to their Etherium Ingot Blue color for now until I find out a better color that suits them than Arcanium's pink color. Arcanium may have a color change within the future as well (blaster sounds from 0.6.0 will be readded in the next 0.6.X Series update).
- Removed the 12 Other Music discs added in "Music Celebrations" to save on file space, if you still want these music discs, I will be adding them in a separate mod planned in the future known as "Ethereal Additions."
- Recipe Changes!
- Crying Obsidian, Cryoshards, and Cryodust: Crying Obsidian no longer is smeltable in the furnace to give a cryoshard. Instead, Crying Obsidian is now used in a stonecutter to reward the player with 4 Cryoshards! With that, 1 Cryoshard can be placed within a stonecutter to get 4 cryodust! This is to make the resource more easily available to the player!
- Legendstone: While Legendstone's recipe did not change, the amount rewarded to the player was changed from 1 to 4! this is to make the resource more accessible to the player so Arcanium Fluid Blocks can be more easily made!
- Ethereal Stone Recipe Changes: Ethereal Stones which include Verdant, Ametrine, Brilliant, Soulferno, Voidic, and Echo have been changed to benefit the player as the recipes have been made easier! This is due to some of the crafting items for the Ethereal Stones were more challenging than expected. Be sure to either consult the crafting guide or use JEI to help with the Crafting of these items!
- Echo Essence Change: Echo Essence is now easier to craft as the Echo Shards have now been replaced with Sculk blocks. Additionally, the player is now rewarded with 32 essences compared to the 16 rewarded in the past.
- Voidic Essence Change: Voidic Essence now rewards the player with 32 essences compared to the 16 rewarded in the past.
- Rarity Status Changes: Many of the items within the game have undergone rarity status changes to account for how common or how rare an item is to obtain in my opinion. This may be changed within the future.
- Projectile Damage Changes: While the Blasters are meant to be powerful items, I felt they were too Powerful as even the weakest Blaster was OP! To fix this, I have made significant changes to the way these projectiles cause damage to make them fairer! There may be Enchantments added in the future to these Blasters to help make them stronger or I may modify the stats again if feedback is given (PLEASE GIVE FEEDBACK IF YOU HAVE IDEAS OR ISSUES WITH THE MOD!)
- Gilded: Power: 1, Damage: 2.8, Knockback: 2, Total Damage: 5.6
- Carmine: Power: 1, Damage: 3.5, Knockback: 2, Total Damage: 7
- Tempered: Power: 1, Damage: 3.7, Knockback: 2, Total Damage: 7.4
- Oxidized: Power: 1, Damage: 4, Knockback: 2, Total Damage: 8
- Azure: Power: 2, Damage: 2.2, Knockback: 3, Total Damage: 8.8
- Verdant: Power: 2, Damage: 2.5, Knockback: 3, Total Damage: 10
- Ametrine: Power: 2, Damage: 2.9, Knockback: 3, Total Damage: 11.6
- Brilliant: Power: 2, Damage: 3.3, Knockback: 3, Total Damage: 13.2
- Blazing: Power: 3, Damage: 2.4, Knockback: 3, Total Damage: 14.4
- Soulferno: Power: 3, Damage: 2.6, Knockback: 3, Total Damage: 15.6
- Voidic: Power: 3.5, Damage: 2.6, Knockback: 3, Total Damage: 18.2
- Echo: Power: 4, Damage: 3, Knockback: 12, Total Damage: 24
Nice concept!
