Topic category: Minecraft mod ideas exchange
In my mod I plan to add bosses. Now these bosses will have lore, and for lore reasons I only want players to be able to re-fight these bosses using an "Altar of Remembrance". There is one issue with this, however, as some of these bosses spawn in structures. I have a plan on how to prevent players from entering these structures before they're meant to (to prevent overpowering), but that neither here nor there. Anyway, does anyone have suggestions about how to make it so that these bosses can only be fought once? (I understand if this is asking for too much, but ideas to make the structures feel less empty if the boss simply doesn't spawn if the player has a certain advancement would be greatly appreciated as well)
Easy! Just add a variable for each boss "[bossname]fought" and set it to logic type. Start all of them on false. When each boss is beaten, put its respective variable to true. Then make a spawn mechanic within the boss (or better yet the block in the structure that spawns it.) and make it so that it spawns ONLY if the variable is false. And just don't add the variable to the altar of rememberance summoning. Or make the altar only spawn them if the variable is true so that they can only re-summon after fighting. And in each dungeon, have blocks that spawn monsters if the player has an advancement (not sure where that code block is) and so the dungeon is harder with the advancement. If that needs clarification just let me know.
In retrospect "easy" might not have been the best adjective.
