Armor - Damage values\Maximum damage that armor absorbs.

Getting very confused with these two things. Who knows what they do?

Luckily, but i found an answer. "Damage values" is how much armor protects you, "Maximal damage that armor absorbs" is the X that defines armor's durability. To calculate armor's durability, use this little formula: X * 11 for the helmet, X * 16 for the chestplate, X * 15 for the leggings, X * 13 for the boots. For vanilla armor: leather X = 5, chain X = 15, gold X = 7, diamond X = 33.

I'm confused. Is the x stuff on the damage values or the maximum damage the armor absorbs?

just to make sure i understand correctly:

  • "damage values" is just the defence rating (this is a simplification).
  • "maximal damage that armor absorbs" is "X".

so if i wanted my armor to have the durability of diamond i only need to set "maximal damage that armor absorbs" to 33?

found a link on gampedia that will help with durablilty (the x value) for the materials:

https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Armor#Durability

to find x I would do the durability of the helmet divided by 11 (the multiplier of the helmet)

I hope this helps!
