can't create an entity variable

I just updated my mcreator to 2022.1, and i can see that i can set an entity variable to something, but the variables menu wont let me create an entity variable. some help please or just validation that its a bug or something? i even tried making a new workspace to see if it was because i have updated my main workspace multiple times, but no dice, still wouldn't show up in the menu, still only shows blockstate, direction, itemstack, number, logic, and string.
