Can't make new workspace

Upvotes: 1
Issue description

I downloaded Mcreator 1.9.0. I really wanted to test out some of the new features, like the potion effect element. However, when I clicked 'new workspace' and named it, it came up with the following message:

Workspace Open Failed!

The workspace you are trying to open is not valid Mcreator workspace or is corrupted!

If you did not change the folder name and are seeing this, the workspace file might be corrupted.

This is the whole log?

I am still not sure this is happening. So the steps you do are

  1. Open MCreator
  2. Click new workspace
  3. Enter name mcreatortestoneninety
  4. Click Create new workspace

Or are there any other steps you do?

Thank you for the info.

Could you go to C:\Users\toby_\MCreatorWorkspaces\mcreatortestoneninety\ and tell me the contents of the file mcreatortestoneninety.mcreator? Thanks!

The workspace file seems just fine, strange. Did you try opening this workspace after the creation?

And another question, does this happen each time you make new workspace?

1.) I did not try opening it. I'll try doing that now, I'll see if it still comes up with the error if I import it over.

2.) Yes, it is every time I try to create a new workspace.

Do you mean open or import?

Just another question as I feel like I'm onto something. Do you have SSD or HDD? And if HDD, is it kinda slow?

I think I have found the cause for this. This bug will be fixed in a patch update.

PATCH UPDATE 29. 6. 2019, 19:00 CET

There were some bugs found in MCreator 1.9.0 so we decided to release a patch update. If you are having one of the following bugs and downloaded MCreator before the time of the patch, consider reinstalling version 1.9.0:

  • [#50676] Could not type uppercase S and C in MCreator due to shortcuts being assigned to them
  • [#50710] Missing references to blocks or items that were not properly deleted in previous MCreator version could cause Minecraft to crash
  • [#50711] Trees were still generating in lakes in custom dimensions
  • [#50688] MCreator did not work on computers with the language set to Turkish
  • [#50705] MCreator could fail to save workspace on some slower hard drives
  • [#50705] In some cases users could not create a new workspace
  • If one closed main window while Gradle was running and canceled the close, the window closed nonetheless
  • One could close MCreator while the Gradle workspace was setting up
  • Fast clicking on the build, run client or run server button repeated this task multiple times
  • Added a notice about supported model types in the UI

To apply the patch (fix these bugs), uninstall MCreator 1.9.0, download it again and install it again.
