Pandora Dimension - Sneak Peek Topic

This topic is to showcase the work I have been doing and to gather feedback on what needs improvements or things that work. Things may be subject to change in the future so we will be updating this post over time.

A Breakdown of the Minecraft Modification

The mod is going to add one new dimension to Minecraft, it will be like the overworld but with custom biomes that have many details structures and custom mobs. New ores tools and machines that can assist in different tasks. At the moment the plan is to have a portal generate as a structure that players have to find and there will be no way to break or move those portals, however, you will need to find a second structure beforehand to get the portal igniter tool that will boot up the portal to Pandora.

The First Biome

The first biome is going to be a Mangrove Forest biome It will be like a swamp as they are swamps but have unique ecosystems. If you did not know there are many places in our world on earth that these Trees grow and have very diverse ecosystems.

Planed Biomes

We will be making a new world like the overworld from the ground up so there will be more than the mangrove biome that we are currently working on in the first update. Each update will focus on a brand new biome and features with some new mechanics. Below are some biomes we for sure want to work on in the future. The size of the biome is based on the hight of which the biome can reach in height, for example, a mountain would be Medium to Large in height where plains would around sea level.

Seasons and Weather

Pandora will have season cycles and common weather based on what season the world is in. This will be separate from the overworld and other dimensions so you will not need to worry about it raining all for a long time in other worlds however the variables are still linked to other dimensions due to it being a global variable for the timer. Also sleeping will change the weather for the day and will fast forward 12000 ticks in the season (12 MC hours) Seasons last 91 Minecraft days or (2184000 Minecraft ticks) This system may be improved later on down the road. The starting season will always be spring.

There is a tone of work still to be done however this is what the mangrove forest biome looks like at the given moment.

Overworld Structures

The Portal Gate

Portal Gates are your way into Pandora and can only be found not made. They can't be moved or broken so finding one is a good spot for a base or hub. Creative mode will still have access to the portal frame-blocks. To unlock the portal you need to find an item in a milestone called the Pandora Axe this will remove the vines in the center of the portal gate. Next, you need to find another milestone called the Pandora Keystone this will act as your flint and steel to open the portal gate to the other world.

The biomes which this structure can be found are (deserts, mountains, plains, and swamps)

Alpha Milestone

Alpha Milestones hold the Pandora Axe to remove the vines of the Portal Gate. Removing the vines will allow you to activate the portal with the Pandora Keystone from the Beta Milestone. There are also some emeralds in the container found at the structure. This structure can only be found in plains biomes in the overworld.

Beta Milestone

Beta Milestones hold the Pandora Keystone to activate the portal after the vines are removed. This structure has some emeralds in the container and upon opening the container you will get your second achievement for the Pandora path. This structure can only be found in swamps.

Updated the mod to 1.14.4

I have updated the mod to 1.14.4 as its just a nicer version of Minecraft to work with and there will be more features for this version down the road I feel so this will be the official version upon release.

Additional Planed Things!

Some other things that are planned are listed below. Some things may not be possible at the moment, however, if we are able to find a workaround then I will try to implement advanced features. This list may change over time and or be added to new ideas. Of course, if you have any suggestions I would like to hear them below and I will take them into consideration when I am working on the mod.

• Dungeons (Mob spawners, Traps, Artifacts, and Rare Items)
