you can use Mojang's Textures but you cant make money from it
So, in recap, I can make a mod that adds, for example, dirt slabs/stairs that use the same texture as vanilla dirt?
Or, I could use the oak planks texture and use the Filter tool to make it look blue?

Yes, you can. With my mod, I've ripped the textures straight from the 20w19a snapshot and changed the colours of ores, weapons, tools etc.
Hey, I use the Texture Editor too.
