I created a model in blockbench with the format "Java Block/Item" and exported it as a JSON. Attached the texture (that I also created in blockbench, so it SHOULD be perfectly compatible) and it always shows up as the purple and black error no matter what I try. I previously exported it as an obj and the same thing happened. Anything else I could try?
The solution to this problem and many other problems can be found in our knowledge base: https://mcreator.net/support/knowledgebase Please check the knowledge base before opening a new topic on the issue which has a known fix.
I have the same problem as described in mcreator knowledge base:Item or block JSON model renders as broken texture | MCreator. but I have tried checked everything and nothing seems to work. then I tried to make another model in blockbench and it still rendered broken, and now every block/item I export comes up as broken. is there anything else i could try that isnt listed in the knowledge base?
Try this...
Go back to Blockbench
Rename the project model and the parent something completely different.
Delete the old broken java block/item
Hit the magical regenerate code button <just to be safe> top right
Now add new renamed model
Also try
Start a new mod
Add model to new mod
Good Luck

Ok this happened to me, but i found a fix:
if you are using blockbench, go to the file tab and click project. Then, put under the parent model section "minecraft:blocks/stone" Copy and paste that EXACTLY (without "", of course), and it should work. At least that worked for me
What about items?
Same thing I think
Squigg_Dog8 that worked immediately for me and I cannot thank you enough for finding the solution
Squigg_Dog8 you're amazing! Thank you so much
