Release notes

1.18.1 in terms of registries is almost whole different version, requiring a lot of additional work to maintain. It would be a waste of time for developers, especially since almost all 1.18.1 mods will soon update to 1.18.2. So your modpack should be totally fine.
It is not supported anymore. Theoretically you could wait for 1.14.4 plugin to be developed by other people, but I doubt it will work, since Java version used by 1.14.4 may be an issue.
Best thing I'd recommend is using 2020.5 - it's reliable, good version of MCR, and supports 1.14.4 natively. It also has a lot of crucial features, except for redstone/entity tags/some block variants.
