My last Paralysis mod was not exactly glorious. I believe this to be a definite step up. In this, instead of the complicated wraith system...I have the even more complicated system where the current three fears are integrated as they realistacally would be. AKA, you have arachnophobia and you are around a spider, you get scared.
Symptoms of Fear
When around their phobia, the player will be inflicted with swiftness, nausea, and blindness.
Phobias
Arachnophobia (Fear of Spiders): When around a spider or cave spider, fear effects are inflicted. MODERATE
Nyctophobia (Fear of Darkness): If the light level < 7, fear effects are inflicted. HARD
Enochlophobia (Fear of Crowds): If you are in a village, fear effects are inflicted. EASY
Acrophobia (Fear of Heights): If your Y coordinate > 150, fear effects are inflicted. MODERATE
Algophobia (Fear of Pain): If you are not max health, fear effects are inflicted. VERY HARD
Necrophobia (Fear of Death) Every time you kill a mob, fear effects are inflicted. VERY HARD
Pantophobia (Fear of Everything) Do you want to make a YouTube video or brag to your friends about how you braved Minecraft while barely able to see and dying of motion sickness? Then choose Pantophobia! But be warned, It is not for the faint of heart...or for the sane of mind. REDICULOUSLY HARD
Equinophobia (Fear of Horses): If you are riding a horse, fear effects are inflicted EASY
Cynophobia (Fear of Dogs): If you are near a wolf (tamed or otherwise), fear effects are inflicted. MODERATE
Phobic Relics
Phobic relics are items that will be granted to the player upon choosing a fear. The relics are powerful, but involve interacting with, or in some cases downright summoning your fears.
Arachnafang: Arachnophobes can right click on a block to be launched upward. Good for climbing! When you hit an enemy, it inflicts poison but inflicts fear effects on you.
Shadow Shredder: A mysterious sword available to nyctophobes that does 0.1 damage...during the day. 15 at night.
Enchanted Emerald: Teleports enochlophobes to the nearest village within 300 blocks.
Wind Shredder: When an entity is hit by this acrophobic sword, if their Y coordinate > 100, they are inflicted with lengthy levitation.
Visceral Edge: Every time an algophobe takes damage, their next attack with this sword does +3 damage.
Gloom Scythe: Low damage, but small chance to instantly kill mobs in the hands of a necrophobe.
None: You're on your own if you are pantophobic.
Magic Wheat: If you are an Equinophobe looking to brave horse-kind, hold magic wheat in your inventory to give boosts to your "noble" steed.
Steak of Infinite Friendship: A cynophobe can hold this in their hand to quite literally tame thier worst fears.
Dread Wraiths
Dread Wraiths are back! (Formerly called Fear Wraiths). These rare monsters are immune to fire and potion effects, and each attack has a chance to inflict an effect related to your fear. Killing them gives you the Mind Dead potion effect for 100 minutes. This makes you not react to your fear, but also sets your step height to 0.1, so you have to jump to get on top of every block you come across. Elite Dread Wraiths are boss versions of regular Dread wraiths. Recognizable by their golden swords (among other details), these wraiths have a higher chance to inflict a fear attack, and the events upon landing a fear attack are often more severe. I'll let you discover for yourself what effects the wraiths inflict ;D. The Elite Fear Wraiths drop the Totem of Novu'tim, which allows you to pick a new fear (and lose your old Phobic Relic.)
Figments:
Figments is a dimension added in the 'Seeing Things' update. This eerie world is inhabited with mocking wraiths. This sub-sect of fear wraith wields a wooden sword, but they won't be fighting you with those. When approached they will morph into something relating to your fear. This dimension has Dreacium Ore, which can be used to craft powerful tools (but when the sword hits a mob, you get fear effects.) And armor which, when the full set is worn, grants invincibility in exchange for constant fear effects. The portal for the dimension is made from obsidian, and the igniter can be crafted by combining a Totem of Novu'tim and an ender pearl. (NOTE: This dimension is extremely dangerous for nyctophobes, as the light level is constantly low enough to trigger the phobia. There are 3 biomes. Phobic Deadlands: the most common biome with nothing special. Shaded Desert: Full of strange blue sand and dehydrated cacti. Not very useful...yet. Eerie Marsh: Full of dead vegetation and a mysterious kind of fern. Like the cacti, the ferns are not currently useful.
Bosses:
2.1 added a block called the hysteria wormhole, which can be fed to summon the two new bosses in this mod. Beware! The wormhole cannot be moved once placed.
Cornerdweller
Some depths of your imagination are too horrifying even for figments to manifest. Unless you let it. Feeding the hysteria wormhole 50 dehydrated cacti in total will summon this terrifying creature. When hit, it will turn invisible and flee, before returning and dealing poison damage with its sword. It drops Somniphobia (fear of sleeping) a special fear. Somniphobes will be inflicted with lingering fear effects when they wake up. The relic is the Sleep Paralysis Amulet. Wake up with it in your main hand to be teleported to Figments.
Dreadlord
Yes, it does get worse than elite dread wraiths. Feeding a hysteria wormhole 20 phobic fiddleheads will summon this iron fisted tyrant. Armed with a diamond sword, he will summon dread wraiths and mocking wraiths when damaged. He constantly inflicts fear effects on you. He drops phobophobia (fear of fear) which makes you afraid of fear wraiths. The relic is the Flawless Dreacium Sword, which deals 25 damage while inflicting long-lasting and severe fear effects on you.
You can also feed the wormhole sunflowers. I wonder what that will do for you?

I would not suggest choosing a phobia if you actually have said phobia. As of the 1.9 update, I have added measures to make cheating the fear system much harder.
