i feel they should have a way to convert a mod from 2026.2 to older version so i can work on mods for more versions without having to remake the whole thing again because i am a mod developer and i release mods for more then 1 version and i realse my mods on forge 1.20.1 and fabric 26.1.2 and for the really small ones i do forge 1.20.4 also but it is on 2024.4 and forge 1.20.1 and fabric 26.1.2 are both on 2026.2 so i want to know if there is a way to make a mod that has a file for each of those 3 without making it twice so i can start posting my bigger mods on all 3 also
This is not possible because of how the software works. If you want older MC generators, use plugins for this.
If you change your mind and want to go back, the best way is to restore from a backup.
what i wanted was i way to make a workspace that was created on 2026.2 work on 2024.4 so i can port my mods for forge 1.20.1 and fabric 26.1.2 to forge 1.20.4 so i can release all my mods on all 4 of them
2024.4 does not have all features 2026.2 has so this is by definition not possible
Use 1.20.1 plugin on 2026.2
i do use 1.20.1 on 2026.2 but i also use 1.20.4 which is only on 2024.4 so is remaking the whole mod all over again the only way to make mods that work on all 3 or do you know of a more simple way
i have been trying to find a way but so far i have not found any
can somebody then just make a forge 1.20.4 and forge 1.20.2 plugin for 2026.2 then
but ideal would be a way to convert them so what features make that hard because i want a way to convert them without having to rebuild the whole mod again
Sorry about the phrasing in reply to your comment on the 2026.2 article, I was a little annoyed and that was unfair.
I do want to state here the issues with this feature just to make it clear and help anyone who runs into this forum post:
I personally recommend you move to 2026.1 and use _Spectrall’s NoeForge 1.20.4 generator, and make a copy of your workspace in 2026.2 to port it to 26.1.2. That way you’re forward-porting which they explicitly do support, instead of backporting which is unsafe and they don’t support.
Also, I realized that any removing features just removes stuff from your workspace so a backporting tool would a delete a bunch of stuff from your workspace anyways which is inherently an unsafe thing for MCreator to do and isn’t an ideal solution for anybody.
so the best thing would be for somebody to just make a forge 1.20.4 plugin
