So I want to make some new mobs, but...

As I said in the title of this topic, my aim is to make some new mobs (and items, but that's easier and has proved simple enough) for a mod I'm building.

The issue is, I don't know how to make or edit a model for the mob(s), or texture said model.

Please bear with me, I have zero modding and coding experience, so if somebody is willing to walk me through the process I would greatly appreciate your help.

You will need some tools:
Techne (to create templates)
Image editor (preferably Photoshop)
This tutorial to animate mobs with custom templates (done by me): https: //mcreator.net/forum/46658/how-animate-your-custom-mob
And a tool called creativity / imagination!
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info!

I get the impression that techne is hard to find and download safely, do you have any advice there?

Also, on a sidenote, would blockbench work fine with the version of mcreator I have (1.8.2), or are there issues with that program? I've been kinda told by my searches that blockbench is easier to use, but I'm very new to the whole thing so I don't really know.

Thank you ^^! sweet! I'm looking around for tutorials on using it, but when I get around to doing so I'm likely going to need somebody to walk me through key steps in the process. We'll see.. Bear with me, please :)

Blockbench is better in my experience, and works. You can ground parts into folders even to have multi-part legs or hands etc.

I suggest you from my expirience to use

Tabula instead of techne mostly because techne is dead and tabula is less buggy

Block bench for block/item models

Photoshop, gimp, paint.net or aseprite for textures

Blender, Maya, 3Ds or light wave if you want to make serious models

Everybody, thank you so far.

I've decided to go with Blockbench and GIMP as my tools.

I'm gonna have to say any and all references to coding (though more helpful than not) are magic to me.

Could someone give me a step by step run down on what i'm gonna need to do with blockbench? think like you're talking to a child who has never seen a computer before, right? lol the simpler the better. And the same for GIMP, for that matter.

It's all new to me.

Eventually I hope to put something out from this to make worth your time!
