Is there a way to change the Texture Maker to use Minecraft's old sprites?

Creating a mod for 1.12.2, but all the sprites in the Texture Maker are the updated sprites, making my custom pickaxe(for example) look different then the old textured diamond pickaxe. Example: https://imgur.com/pSTOBy4. So is there a way to change the Texture Maker to use Minecraft's old sprites?

I'd recommend downloading Minecraft textures from novaskin.me and editing them manually. It often makes textures look a lot better if you colour them pixel by pixel :)

Especially if you use alpha to keep the same general shading but different colours.
