A Huge Minecraft Space Mod

Hello! If you have clicked on this post, I guess you want to know what it's all about! Trailblazer is a massive sci-fi story mod that I am currently working on. It is a work in progress, so is not finished yet, and I won't expect it to be released for some time. The point is, pretty much anything you want in space - even if it's not space related (It can be on a planet) - you can post it here, and I will try to put it in the mod. If your idea doesn't make it into full release (I have a roadmap for it and it's looking pretty big), then I will try to put all suggested features that could fit in the next major update (bugfixing will probably come first). Even if your idea doesn't fit (say you want a character from a game you play or something) I can still manage to fit it in - as a decorative toy, an NPC template or their clothes as an armour set!

More or less anything goes, it's not supposed to be a realistic mod :)

So, what is the mod about exactly? Why don't I just use Galacticraft?

Well, as I've already said, it's a space mod. However, unlike Galacticraft (a semi-realistic space mod), it's not about the grind. Getting to space doesn't take long - all you need is to wait for an event (No spoilers about what it is) which could happen from any time between when you first spawn and finish the game! However, the RNG used for determining the event won't be too rare, so you can be fairly certain of it happening in your first couple days. After this, only minimal (well, not exactly minimal, but considerably less than Galacticraft) resource gathering is required and you're off! There is a storyline (absolutely no spoilers about that!), which will hopefully be engaging and fun!

There will be spaceship battles, crew, NPCs, missions, quests, bounty hunting with procedurally generated enemies and many other interesting mechanics - even new status bars!

Say I don't go to space. Does it change anything in the Overworld?

You can expect Meteor showers for one thing! Meteors will occasionally fall from the sky near you, exploding on impact. In their core will be a new ore!

Also, Health and Hunger will not be shown any more (except for when you are on low health or hunger). There will also be a Tough as Nails addon for this feature. You will need to craft a Status Checker to view these, as well as your new stat bars.

I like some of those features! Can I get them without the main mod, so it can feel more vanilla-y?

Yes, you will be able to! I will have a separate mod page for different parts of the mod that I feel will work well without space. These will include the blacked-out Health and Hunger bars, and a modified version of the Bounty Hunting. These will not be compatible with the main mod as well, however.

That will be quite a while. However, if I have people helping me with it, making textures, models etc. it'll be quicker! If you contribute in this way, you will have your Minecraft skin (or, if you don't want to share your username, something related to your profile picture) as an NPC template. You can say if you would rather it was something else, and that's fine :)

 

Note: Development will take a long time before release. Do not expect the mod to be out soon. However, the main parts of the mod have been planned out.

Progress Bar

Please note that I am grouping most of these in stages of progression in the mod, rather than in element types (with the exception of ores and materials) because it's difficult to say how much of the different element types will be in the mod.

Planning (of what the mod's initial release is going to include): 60%

NPCs: 0% < This will take a long time to get the AI to seem natural, and also to get all of the different skin templates for them.

Planets: 4%

Storyline: 0%

Early Stages (before going into space): 95% (this has actually gone backwards a little, due to some issues with procedures meaning a rework is required)

Spaceships: 5%

Ores and Materials: 5%

Galaxy Map: 15%

Stage 5 of the storyline

Possibly bounty hunting, but we'll see ;)

 

Should I release a public test version after I finish the first solar system or two? (It'll be far from finished at that point, but it'd be helpful to have bugs and issues pointed out early in development)

Well, I have a plan for random notes scattered across the galaxy that tell you about stuff like this, and how things work, this can be one of them! I think little lore notes around will be a fun thing to try and find :D

If you want some suggestions there they are (not sure if they are good XPPPPP):

-Terrafex: Giant agressive worm which drops some good stuff. Can be found on Haumea and Eris (if you are going to make them).

-Flaming skeleton: Spawns on Venus. Atacks the player using the magmatical blade. Drops flaming bones from which you can make flaming bonemeal which makes plants burn.

-Blazer: It is like a blaze but looks different and is much stronger. Drops blazing essence. Spawns on Venus and Io.

-Stonebreaker: Giant boss which can place basalt (more resistant and harder stone) when attacks and can destroy some blocks (stone, cobblestone, sandstone, stone bricks, concrete, terracota (normal and glazed) and ores). Spawns on Venus in a new dungeon called Basaltic fortress.

-Basaltic fortress: New structure made of different basalt types (normal, polished, chieseled, columns, bricks and other if you are going to make them). It has a lot of different rooms with columns, flaming skeletons and blazer spawners, chests with loot, rooms with enchanting tables, etc. It is like a maze with small rooms and a big central room where spawns the boss (Stonebreaker).

-Necrofly: Black flying entities which shoot the player. Spawns on Ganymede, Pluto, Charon and Triton.

-Freezed astronaut: Atacks the player by using the sword. Drops freezing bones and freezed flesh which you can smelt into flesh. Spawns on Ganymede, Europa, Calisto, Triton, Pluto, Charon, Eris and Haumea.

-Encrya: Dark blue bug which attacks the player and drops his exoskeleton which you can use to make armor and tools.

-Stone guardian: If somethings happens (that's what you decide) it becomes a mob and starts attacking the player.

-God Eater: Extremely big and powerful boss which is in the Crying castle which has armor and an axe. Has different attacks (idk how to make it but for example make player get blindness, summon mobs, put player inside a cube of blocks, etc.). At the end drops lots of stuff like God Eater's head, God Eater's axe, neoferrite (new metal used for an extremely strong armor and tools which you can drop only from God Eater), freezed bones (from which you can make freezing bonemeal which freezes plants) and much more.

-Crying castle: Enormous mountain with a castle on it and caves inside where you can get only by passing throucg the castle. It is like the basaltic fortress, but more big, complex, dangerous and made of other blocks. There are waterfalls. Also there are towers with Necroflyers spawners on the top and also much spawners of mobs (encrya and other) inside. You can find there blocks with heads of ancient greek gods' heads (Zeus trophy, Afrodite trophy, Hermes trophy, etc.) and chests with very cool loot. In the center of that area inside the mountain is a giant room with the boss (God Eater).

-Ancient greek gods' trophies: Blocks which you can find inside the crying castle. You can make special helmets which give you specific effects (depending of the god of what you are doing the helmet).

Those are not all, I have much more, but I guess that's enough for now, if you want more I can write (if you want me to write here no problem but I think it would be better to do it somewhere else). It's also pretty interesting which planets you want to add and how the mod is going to look like! .-.

It's not actually supposed to be realistic; no real-life planets are in the mod. But I like your ideas! :)
