need help with a mobs attack

one of the mobs in my mod has an attack were targets the players position (announced by some particles appearing in their position at that moment) and then makes a small area attack in said position were it gives you slowness, some explosion particles appear and it makes a sound, the objective being getting out of that area before it hits

the problem is, the last part doesnt happend at all, the particles that announce the attack do appear, but neither the slowness, explosion particles nor sound happpends

im really struggling to find a solution to this beacause idk what can be wrong in the procedure, i seriously need help
