Custom tree foliage

Hello guys, Im starting my first modding experience trying out a bunch of things, and one of the first ones was making a custom tree, a palm tree, I have made the logs and the leaves but the problem is that I want this tree to generate with a custom type of foliage, one that resembles real life palm trees, with "branches" coming down separated ones from the others.

How would I be able to do something like that? Is it possible without programing? Is there any tutorial online? I have looked over the web and sadly i havent been able to find anything, so if you know how to make it, thanks in advance.

You could make a custom structure, I don't think you can do that any other way as far as I know. If you don't know how to make a custom structure you could watch a tutorial. Also, is this a new feature or a new biome? With features or biomes, you can make this but it can't have the palm tree leaves, unless you were to make a structure instead. (There might be a way to do it, but this is all I know)

But if i make the tree into a structure, can I then create a custom sapling to make the tree grow? I don´t think i understand what you mean by making the tree a custom structure and then making it spawn as a feature, do I have to model a bunch of trees, inport them to MCreator as structures, and then make a feature to spawn the tree/structure?
