Custom Cherry Blossom Particle

I am trying to make a custom tree and i want it to have the same particle as the cherry blossom falling leaf, the only thing is that i want the particle to be yellow instead of pink. 

i have created the particle with a texture but i can't seem to get the settings right. the particle are falling staight down from the custom leaves and its spawning too many, i would really like if the custom particle would work the same way as the cherry blossom one.

anyone know what i need to do?
