Check if Player supposed to die

I want to make an Enchantment like an Totem of Undying that triggers if the Players supposed to die.

Can someone help me with this?

I'm working on something similar. When I die, it still shows the death screen and drops my inventory but pressing respawn puts me where I died. Entities will also keep attacking me while in the screen and I receive the effects that the procedure specifies. How do I fix this?
