1st 2021.2 snapshot and themes competition

The first MCreator 2021.2 snapshot is here, adding some new interesting features to the core. As this snapshot adds themes support, we are doing a themes competition too. Read on!

At the first glance, it may look like this snapshot does not add many new features. This is because we did a lot of "behind the scenes" improvements that should reflect a smoother UI, faster performance, and tons of new features and options for plugin makers. Still, especially fluids got some new goodies, and some other elements too. More in the changelog below.

  • [Bugfix, A 1.16.x] Blocks generated with the ore pack tool had broken textures

Themes competition

As mentioned at the beginning of this article, we are doing a themes competition! So what does this mean? As now MCreator adds themes in plugins, we have decided to include some community themes in the core. If you want your theme to be included in the core (MCreator itself), these are the steps you need to do:

  1. Read our custom themes wiki page to learn how to make new themes (and ask on forums or community-driven chat rooms for more help if needed)
  2. Make your awesome new theme (make sure icons or other resources you use are your own work for copyright reasons)
  3. Post your theme on our plugins page and note that you want your theme to be included in the themes competition either in plugin description or comments so we know you would like to participate

Before the 2nd snapshot, we will run voting on our social pages (Twitter and Reddit) and select 2 themes that will be included in MCreator's core. How cool is that? :D

This is because we updated the Java bundled in MCreator and this new release is really new and thus detected as less trustworthy. The way to solve this is that you report such detections to your software support (there is usually a button for this or a form on their website). This will assure experts will manually verify files and mark them as clean.

I found a bug in the Latest Version of MCreator that during
When creating Modifications, a message like "Workspace setup failed" popped up

You take suggestions, right? If so, I do have a few.
1: Can you make not only an "If held in hand" procedure for items, but also an "If held in off hand"
2: Another nice thing would be making it to where you can also make biomes for the Nether and End
3: Maybe a simpler way to make Saplings and Crops, with a Crop option in the plant thing (Select stages and seed), and also have a sapling option, and when you check it you basically do the tree thing you do when making a biome.

Oh, also, can you simplify the loot table and make it to where you can just select the objects that the loot table is attached to? Kinda like how you select which biomes mobs spawn in and which biomes spawn in a new dimension?

Aaand also I think from what I can tell the water plant thing doesn't work? I tried to make a water plant, but it just breaks in water. And custom signs are always a possibility maybe- Alright I think I'm done sorry.

And also maybe make it to where fluids can have names outside of the database name, and also maybe make it to where you can craft things with the mob spawn eggs and new fluids- and also make it to where the gasses do float upwards- alright I think I'm done now for real, sorry 'bout all this, I know you're busy.

Great update though i can't use it. Whenever i open mcreator it vanished and if i try to delete it i cant. Before that it worked a bit before, after one gradle setup i started getting an error. Now its just nothing.

Is there any plan to add the ability to create custom versions of items such as a boat or sign?
I mean being able to create them just like blocks / vegetation / mobs.

guys i have a problem i cant find my mods I aploded them and I cant find it in the mods section of the website

A bug I encountered in the snapshot is that it kept on failing to do code no matter what so until its finished I'm gonna be on 2021.1

are custom signs, buttons and torches going to happen soon?
