Cannot Add Forge Plugin

Hello. I followed the tutorial on how to add a plugin to mcreator. Im on a mac. I clicked the plugin folder, dragged in the zip, loaded it, and it just doesnt appear anywhere and says it "cannot assign field "Builtin" because "plugin" is null". Ive tried everything, from loading the plugin to the folder, it says its there but wont load it. This is the forge plugin for 1.20.1
