I agree with you
in the newest snapshot the velocity block would allow you to shoot "mobs" which could allow you to make more advance guns and such i belive the math to add velocity for it to aim would be (entity look direction #)-(current location aka xyz) the number would make it more power full or not i would put the equation in both x and z. y i would leave unless you wanted it to go up or down more.
