How to make flyable entity fly up and down

Hi, I am making a mod that has rideable flying entities and I wanted the player to be able to control the flying entity with strafe control, forward movement, and going up and down. I got the first two down but I need help with the up and down part. Is it possible to control the entity going up and down? Please help! Thanks! --EthanIslandGamer
