Salvage Furnace

Mod Info!

Patchouli is highly recommended.

Compatibility with Mortius' Weaponry!

Did you forget that you already made a diamond pickaxe?
Was that the worst possible enchant to get on a Chestplate?
Do you have a mobfarm that generates more tools and armor pieces that you can use?
Do you wish you could recycle these items more efficiently than putting them in a blast furnace? Than this is the mod for you!

 Salvage Furnaces!

Salvage Furnaces

This mod adds several different salvage furnaces, one for each different type of material.
You can use these furnaces to recycle various tools and armor pieces and recover some of the materials. The higher the durability of the item the more scraps you can recover.
Some items like shovels can't be recycled when it is too damaged.

When you recycle tools in the salvage furnace, you receive some scrap.
The more material that was used to craft the original item the more scrap you will receive.

SalvageFurnaceGif

You can smelt the scraps to recycle the material.

Smelting 2

You can also use these enchanted materials to craft a block. It can be used for decorative purpoces or to save inventory space.

Block of enchanted material

Because of its enchanted capabilities, it can also be used near an enchanting table to enhance enchanting or be used as a beacon base.

Armor!

Netherite_Salvage_furnace

Upgrades!

The salvage furnaces have an upgrade system. The upgrades can be made out of different materials. There are three kinds of blank upgrades. An Iron upgrade, a gold upgrade and a diamond upgrade. The iron one can be used to craft Fuel efficiency upgrades, the gold one can be used to make speed upgrades and the diamond one can be used to make a storage upgrade.

Upgrade-System

Fuel upgrades can be inserted into a salvage furnace to upgrade the machine. This will make it so the machine burns fuel more efficiently. A salvage furnace can take up to 10 fuel upgrades.

Fuel-upgrade

Speed upgrades can be inserted into a salvage furnace to upgrade the machine. This will make it so the machine smelts items faster. A salvage furnace can take up to 10 speed upgrades.

Speed-upgrade

The storage upgrade will place a salvage storage above the machine if the space is available. The storage will automatically place any items that the furnace below can salvage in the inventory of that furnace and it will put the output back in the storage.

Hi! I'm wondering if your mod can be made to work with modded weapons. I'm using Divine Weaponry which adds Vanilla tiers weapon, no new material. Can I make a data pack or any config to whitelist these weapons?

Even though the concept of recycling is kinda popular for the contest, this one takes it in totally different place :D
If you'd like to make 1.16 backport for the mod, I'd love to add it to my modpacks! <3

Hi :) You asked if I could port my mod so you could add it to your modpacks. Are you still interested? I released another update and the mod is now compatible with the latest three Minecraft versions. No obligation, of course.

Of course! :D I see there's also some new features since I was seeing the mod, so can't wait to check them out!
Will also add the mod to next modpack update, and if it is fun/balanced, maybe even to few modpacks ^^

Out of curiosity though, how are the rates of netherite items -> netherite scraps conversion? Since seeing animation on diamond ones, I feel like you recycle exactly the same amount (two diamonds scraps from diamond sword), but would that mean that from netherite sword you get 8 netherite scraps? Asking that because I'm curious if it has the same balance, or if it has some penalty (which would probably make it not really useful).

Glad to hear that! :D I hope you like it. If you have the time could you send me the link to the modpack? Instead of working on the mods, I want to play some Minecraft. :) All the salvage furnaces work the exact same way with exaptation of the netherite salvage furnace.

Since it only takes one netherite ingot (or 4 netherite scrap) to upgrade a diamond item to a netherite item. You can receive up to 4 netherite scraps when salvaging an netherite item. When salvaging a netherite item you lose the diamonds and the gold that was needed when making the tool (diamonds for the original tool and gold when making the netherite ingot) but you recycle the netherite scrap. For balancing it also checks the durability of the item. For example when salvaging a netherite pickaxe with max durability, you recycle 4 netherite scraps. When you used the pickaxe and its durability is between 99% and 66% you will receive 3 netherite scrap when salvaging the item. When the durability is between 66% and 33% you will receive 2 scrap and when its durability is under 33% you will receive one scrap when salvaging the item. If that pickaxe was enchanted you receive enchanted netherite scrap instead of regular netherite scrap.

I tried to make everything vanilla friendly and balanced. I hope you like it and that you understand my explanation. There is a lot of netherite in this conversation XD (I had to split up my explanation since it was to long:/)

Of course! :D
Link for it is here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1slnVd9lZ8GdNOyVpQbLZW1kSwya9kqa6?usp=sharing | It is called "Insanity". It doesn't have Salvage Furnace yet because I didn't have time to make update, but it will be added sooner or later (file has date written, so you will see if it gets updated). | And thanks for explanation on netherite furnace! I forgot you only use one netherite ingot for sword, so forgive me my "8 scraps", haha. Explanation you gave makes a lot of sense, so I see the point of it now, that's quite amazing idea <3
