Welcome to Meb's Weapons! In this mod I added vanilla++ weapons that should increase diversity in combat without reworking the combat system.
Weapon Types
Within this mod there are three primary weapons and some miscellanious content. Each weapon class has its own unique version which can be crafted from vanilla resources.
Daggers: Agile yet weak, these are the fastest hitting weapons in the game. Their greatest strength comes from the fact that the cooldown is as fast as you jump, which means with good timing you can crit every strike.
War Picks: Slightly slower than swords, the primary strength of this weapon is in PvP. They hit for a little more damage than a blade and are capable of disabling shields. They also daze enemies which is incredibly helpful when attempting to make distance or when fighting hordes.
Warhammers: These are the heaviest hitters on the field. Although their reload is significantly longer than an axe, they have the capacity to annihalate single targets. An iron warhammer does 12 damage per hit. Rather than scaling attack speed like axes do, higher tiers just keep increasing damage. Very powerful, but without excellent strategy you can get easily overwhelmed by groups of enemies.
Special Weapons
Each weapon type, including swords and axes, will have a new unique type that, while preserving the balance of the game, allows for much more unique combat scenarios. Currently, only the Dagger and Warhammer have types, but this will be updated soon.
Soulbound Dagger (dagger)
The shattered echoes of a lost soul are mended together, reunited in a single body. This blade can make foes drop their weapons and strikes swiftly. A mind other than your own follows your thoughts, though. Who knows what secrets it will whisper to you in the dark...
The Stormchaser (warhammer)
The very skies bend to your will. Initially untempered, you must reforge it and break the unbreakable skies to bend to your unweathered will. Although initially barely worthwhile, the greater you empower it the greater it empowers you.
The Moonpick (war pick)
A critical counter to magic-users, this ominous Moonpick strikes back at opposing magic-wielders and wields its own powers to dish out strong, yet tempermental, abilities.
Miscellanious Content
Club: You can only craft a club out of wood, for obvious reasons. I think tier-specific weapons are too rare in most mods, so you get this one. It is fairly decent pre-iron and can dish out a nasty concussion.
Parrot Armor: Get new Parrot Feathers by taming them (NO THEY DON'T DROP ON DEATH YOU MONSTER). This material can now craft a Parrot Cloak which allows for much greater mobility and a Parrot Head that revitalizes you when sleeping and significantly increases your speed at the cost of armor and vision.
Planned Content
Although I have significant experience in game design, modding, and programming, this is my first Minecraft mod. I wanted to release this now to get my name out there and hopefully get some attention so I can start doing these more seriously. Here is my plan for the future!
Ranged Weapons: Darts and Shortbows are planned on being added, with potentially tiered bow or arrow upgrades being considered. There are not many options for dedicated ranged weapons in minecraft, but rather most use a bow as a sidearm in case of emergency. I hope to change this and find some innovative ways to allow more ranger-style gameplay without breaking the intricate balance of the game.
More Unique Weapons: At the time of writing this, my current plan is to publish this mod then get straight to work on the Moonpick (done!), the unique warpick variant. After that I will begin brainstorming unique variations for the vanilla weapons.
Vanilla+ Gear: In vanilla Minecraft, there is little progression linked to exploration, and rightfully so. It would be a dreadful experience to rely on RNG structure generation or the like for core mechanics (I'm looking at you, Nether Fortress!). However, these unique weapons are very viable sidegrades. A netherite warpick is as good as a Stormchaser and a Soulbound Dagger does less damage than its diamond+ tiered options. Thus, I believe gear such as the Parrot Armor will be an excellent way to allow adventure to be more thrilling without damaging the vanilla experience. Expect more vanilla+ gear to enhance your playing experience!
Final Words
This is my first mod and I am extremely enthused to share this with the world. I made it because the excellent mod Spartan Weaponry seemed to no longer be getting updates and I considered it worthwhile to build everyone a replacement. 1.2: Added moon pick and fixed netherite dagger.
1.2.1: Fixed the True Moonpick's buffs. You now get stronger as the moon does properly. You can now get the Thunderhammer's recipe in-game by crafting a normal warhammer. Added the Warding debuff which protects you from 1 hit every 10 seconds.
