Help with custom models
Mon, 05/27/2019 - 14:44 (edited)

So I've created a few mobs, but I don't know how to create custom models. All models in the list say: 'Built-In', and none of them is what I'm looking for. I'm using MCreator 1.9.0, so I don't have the "TOOLS" in my screen, and also when I use the search, I didn't see the word 'Techne' once in the whole thing. I tried to download Techne from Planet MC but it didn't work in my computer ("This software is missing files, unable to install"). How do I create custom mob models? Will Techne help me, or I will not be able to upload things from techne to MCreator? What do I do?

Please do not ignore!

Mcreator has evolved and Techni has died but there are more model creators which are:

Block Bench (I use): https://blockbench.net/

crayfish: https://mrcrayfish.com/tools?id=mc#downloads

Tabula A mod: https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/tabula-minecraft-modeler

and there's a lot more

I think that you downloaded the old (non patched) version of techne, so here's the patched one:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/2qfwrqqotn2vqu0/techne-fixed.rar/file

And to import textures/models ect., go to workspace and then there's a small tab that has ''resources'' or something like that written on it, then click  on models.

Ho, wait, no.

I downloaded Techne, and created my model, and saved it as Destroyer.tch

But... I can only import to MCreator:

.json, .jav, or .obj.

Not .tch.

What do I do?

I'm on version 1.8.3, it's not a block or item, it's a mob, and please STOP ASKING QUESTIONS HERE! The comments are a place for ANSWERS. If the question is not asked for making answering me easier, (e.g. What version are you on?), so DON'T ASK IT HERE! Open a thread of your own.

Use blockbench, it's the best model maker for Minecraft, and it's much nicer than Techne in my opinion. Blockbench is also totally free ;p You can export your models to .java too with no problems at all, and I think there's also a plugin that will allow you to import .tch so you might not have to totally recreate you mob~

https://blockbench.net/

And here's how to upload those models to MCreator if you need ^^!

Go to your resources tab, it's on the left sidebar under the mod elements tab. After that just go to the third tab in that section (3D Models and Texture Mappings), upload your model to your workspace (As a .java if you're doing a mob model, as a .json for a block or item I believe... not completely sure on the block or item models tho, but mobs are 100% .java), and you should be good! MCreator will ask you to select the animation for the head, arms, and legs after that (you of course don't need to do this if your mob doesn't have like, limbs.), so make sure you keep track of what part of your model is what!
