Why Fabric is not default

Why don't you default to Fabric when Goldorion can effectively use it? So, why not integrate the plugins directly and develop in Fabric and Neoforge?

Because there is a very limited set of developers, and we can't bring Fabric to the quality of Forge generator with the current team size. Thank you for understanding.

Goldorion is a community contributor/developer and contributes to the core. However, we can't bring Fabric to the quality of the Forge generator with the current team size. It is currently not to the level to be core-ready.

An even bigger problem is version porting and bug fixing where usually contributors go silent and core maintainers need to do most of the porting/fixing.

Therefore, the core is locked to 2 (or 3 during porting snapshots) MC versions, one JE modding API, and no 3rd party libraries/APIs in the core (except MCreator Link due to it being 1st party API), and this part we try to keep to the highest standard possible with available resources.

This is the reason why we invented the plugin system.

Installation of a plugin takes a few clicks so it should not be that much of a problem.
