Topic category: Minecraft mod ideas exchange
As the title implies, I started this mod trying to recreate the Transformers: Beast Wars characters, locations, and some of the events that happen in the show as part of the game, but I added a model of Kohaku from Dr. Stone from a mod I tried to make a long time ago, and it kind of spiraled into an alternate universe where elements of ancient times such as dinosaurs, early hominids, and a wild and untamed earth, meet up with post-apocalyptic ruins of futuristic cities, robots, and humans that have either return to being hunter/gatherers, among other types of survivors.
Beast Wars: This franchise is the more involved. I currently have added wild animals such as Cheetahs, Gorillas, Rhinoceros, Rodents of unusual size, and pre-historically inaccurate Raptors, who represent the core five maximals of the show. I'm planning on adding the representants of the predacons soon, and I would like to find a way to make a transformable entity that would be the actual cybertronian, but that's probably a bit into the future, I'm still figuring animations. I also added an entity resembling the hominids ancestors of humanity, though I designed them to look more like reconstructions of Lucy the australopithecus. I'm working on the Axalon, the maximal's spaceship as a structure that will spawn in the world. I'm making a "functional" one to be the base of the design, but the one that would appear in the game would be damaged, and would require repairs. In the world one also will be able to find Energon Crystals, spires that generate a toxic radiation to robots and most humanoids, and that explode if they are hit by anything but a specific tool. A structure that I have already made that contains those crystals is the Standing Stones, a rock formation similar to Stonehenge. I also plan to add small caverns full of them. I will also add the predacon's ship eventually, and stasis pods where the player could recruit cybertronians.
Chrono Trigger: I have added a "Dome City" resembling the sprites shown in the year 2300 from the game, after Lavos destroyed the world. The interior also resembles the room inside Dome Arris, though I might add other rooms to that structure, and I'm planning to add a dungeon underneat it. I also want to add the structures that surround the dome in the sprite, but I still have to figure what they are. I think I would add a "postapocaliptic biome" where these domes appear, but I'm thinking I might add variants for other biomes like one in the jungle, forest, or desert. I want to add robots like Robo as enemies and tameable entities as well, as well as other robots shown in the game. The Epoch and the jet bike would be neat as vehicles if I figure how those work. I will be adding Ayla.
Dr. Stone: I added Kohaku, and I'm planning on adding a few more of the Ishigami villagers, as well as making a settlement for them. They'll be one of the tribes of humans whom the player could help to develop their technological and cultural level. I want to add petrified humans that can be revived like in the show, as well as the Medusa as an item that can freeze enemies if launched.
One Piece: I added Yamato, but not exactly in the context of the show. They would be a representant of the Oni tribe, whom the player can also help to develop, but instead of science, going for a more arcane route. I'm not entirely sure what else I could add from OP, maybe the warlords as enemies and stuff like that, but I'm already overreaching. Maybe giant sea monsters?
Houseki no Kuni: An homage to another mod I started and never finished, I added Phosphophillite. They humanoid, but inmune to the radiation of energon, as they are made of gemstones. They would spawn as enemies in an unshaped form, dropping the gem they are made from when defeated. Gathering enough of one type from defeating the enemy ones or mining it will allow to craft a "tamed" one. I'm also planning to add the Admirabilis, though I started adding an OC in the form of a mantis shrimp humanoid.
Other civilizations: As stated previously, there would be a tribe of Australopithecus, but they might have been absorbed into the "nation of apes", non-human primates that developed their own culture once humans became scarce. They might have been genetically modified and altered further by the energon radiation, as there would be other apes that are "wild".
Robots: I want to add robots of several franchises as helpers. I have currently added Wall-E, whom I would like to have "task chips" or another form of giving them instructions to do a task, cutting trees, digging a hole, taking care of crops, etc. I would want to also add the Wall-A version, who would be bigger (I'm thinking 3x3x3) and would also be able to clean up everything in front of them and dig bigger holes. Eve could be used to do recognition missions, I'm thinking the player would be able to give them directions and they would map out their trajectory to that point. They might also be able to guide the player to the nearest villague, dungeon, biome, etc, if I found out how to do it.
Fate: I added a small BB that would work as the player's "guide" in this strange new world. I do want to add the corrupted version of the 7 FSN servants as boss enemies. I made a block that was originally meant to be the ship's engine, based on Chaldeas, but with the Moon Cell instead of Earth, but I'm thinking I might reuse that for another thing.
Dragon Ball/DBZ: I added a saiyan capsule. I kind of want to add a pre and post-Freezer version of the saiyans. The first ones could be refugees who were seen as too peaceful and weak by the others, barely avoiding being purged by them. The second one would spawn near the saiyan capsules, and would be enemies. Both saiyans could turn into their giant ape form during the full moon, but the first will try to avoid it by going to sleep during the nights. I also want to add ruins that resemble buildings like Capsule Corp's building. I will be adding a Namekian's ship, and I might as well add a colony of them somewhere.
Other aliens: Maximals and Predacons (and Saiyans and Namekians) would not be the first aliens on the planet. I want to add the bugs from Starship Troopers at least.
Tools, machines and minerals: I have created three tools so far. The Mining Laser is the only thing that can break Energon crystals without making them explode, it also mines other minerals faster, and I would like it to be a decent weapon in case of emergency. The Light Wrench helps fix damaged equipment, it also works as a good weapon. And the Analyzer, which can scan living organism's dna, as well as access or hack other computers. The DNA is saved in CDs. I would like to add a tool that works like the Dragon Balls' radar, pointing towards nearby cybertronian or other technological structure.
The main machine that I have is the Synthetizer, which has two functions. First, it works as a conventional but quicker furnace. Second, it can process unprocessed energon mined with the mining laser to turn it int a more stable form. Third, it can build tools and equipment out of raw cybertronian metal (found as crashed meteors in the surface or in deep caves as a mineral) or pure energy for a higher cost, but both require instructions that can only be obtained from a Main Terminal. This data is saved in floppy disks.
Steel is the only metal I have added, in its ingot form as well as blocks of them (which ships are made from), stairs and slabs. I made a red, gold, blue and black variants, which would be steel tinted with a special paint. I haven't decided how steel is made, if I should go for the realistic route, or a more scifi one.
Energy: Currently, the synthetizer can be powered by the usual fuels and processed energon, but I would like to add an energy system for it and other machines to be plugged into. For generators, I'm thinking the usual, solar, wind and water powered, but I would also like to add one that generates power from the energon radiation in the environment. It would generate a constant supply if it is placed anywhere, but if it is closer to energon crystals, it will generate even more. I'm also thinking something geothermal would be nice. I think lights and computers would also need to be powered up, and robots would need to recharge. There will be cables to take energy from the generators to the machines, but I recently got an idea, instead of making them literal cables, I would make them as inscriptions. When placed on an iron or steel block, the "light fiber" will turn on the appearance of those electronic lines, like those in motherboards and other computer components (apparently they are called traces). When placed on stone or coblestone, they would resemble the carvings that appear in the movie Atlantis. I think they could look like crop circles if placed on dirt or grass, maybe like hieroglyphs if placed on sandstone, etc. I have no idea how to make any of that outside of the texture and the thin block model, it is what I'm currently working on.
Lorewise: I'm not sure how this would be explained in a dialogue-less game, but I'll try to figure it out. When the player spawns, all they remember is that they are a maximal who entered into a stasis pod to be sent into an exploration mission to an unknown planet. However, they were supposed to be receive data of the planet through their pod, but it is completely fried. They also have acquired a rather unique alt-mode, a human, and they find they are unable to transform back into a robot. They then meet up a small hologram who identifies as mini BB. She claims the player owes them their life as her original self (mini BB is a copy) saw their pod entering the planet with its systems failing, so it hacked it to keep it running "on fumes" long enough to land it. In exchange for saving their lives, and helping them survive in this world, mini BB says the player would need to do a few favors in the future for them. This probably would involve eliminating "outsiders" like the Predacons and rouge robots causing trouble to the natives, and helping the later develop more civilization. The original BB is not doing this for the good of her heart, she is a "mischievous/malicious/capricious" AI confined in a primitive world, she needs technology to develop so she can infect it and take control of the world.
Through exploring the world, the player would find ruins of a very technological civilization, as well as the diverse humanoid civilizations telling you about the feats of their ancestors. They were on the verge of becoming a space faring specie, having build already a colony on the orbit of the planet. They had the whole futuristic vibe, robots with actual synthetic intelligence, flying cars, teleportation, domes with miniaturized cities, and had become quite talented in manipulating genetics, creating organisms that resembled those that had gone extinct long before they came to be, and others that they came up with. The australopithecus found are actually genetic recreations, just like the dinosaurs and all the other prehistoric animals. But at one point, an event happened that brought those humans almost to the brink of extinction and put the world back in the stone age. Some sources seems to imply an alien attack, others a natural disaster from the stars, and yet another that an experiment with a new source of energy. The truth might be somewhere in the middle, but in any case, the even caused a distortion wave that could be felt through space and time. This wave hit the Axalom and the predacon's ship they were in pursue while in traveling through the transwarp, which is the reason why they both crashed far into the future instead of the past where they were aiming to get.
I think that would be all, if anyone actually got to read all of this, thank you. Check out my instagram for some images of the progress so far; https://www.instagram.com/navigationhologram/
Do you have any suggestion? There are lots of things I have no idea how to make, and I'm making this mod more for me than to publish it, but I would appreciate it if there is anyone interested. Thank you very much.
