The Otherworld is the story of a new Dimension, combined by five different worlds, and five different races.
Each race is unique. They have their own biomes, their own towns, and their own personalities!
The Dimension:
The Otherworld is a dimension consisting entirely of floating chunks of land, each one completely alien to one one-another. There is an icy biome named Glaceia, a fiery biome called Emberia, Magical biomes like Enchantia and Roseia, and a giant forest called the Deepwoods. They consist of their own special dirt, grass, trees, and sky, made up of pearly-white stone called Otherstone.
This dimension is rather treacherous to navigate, because there is nothing but a dark void below these islands, Be careful mining here!
Starting out:
When you start your game, you have a choice to be either human, or to be an Otheran. If you choose to be a different race, you will be teleported to a town in the Otherworld that matches your race. (As of the latest version, you can change this by going into the mod's config file) These towns are naturally spawning, just like the villages in the Overworld, and they contain their own townspeople that you can interact and trade with.
Town Interactions:
Right clicking on a townsfolk will start a dialogue with them. Depending on your relationship, they will either be friendly, neutral, or hostile. They will remember you, so be careful if you like punching people!
(Some of the dialogue is unfinished, and is still being developed)
Trading:
Certain items will trigger a trade screen, where you can buy or sell. Each race has their own currency, and depending on how much you have to sell, the more items they will be willing to give you. Right click on a villager with a trade item to open the screen.
Wooing, Marriage, and Families:
You can woo the opposite gender of your race by gathering special flowers unique to your biome. Right click holding one, and they will fall in love. Once they are your lover, you can marry them by crafting a ring, and giving it to them. You will then be married, and can have kids of your own.
This mod is under heavy development! There will be occupations and quests in a future update.

TODO:
- *Add more dialogue*
- *Add Quests and more Occupations*
For the villages I made it so that the game spawns them like regular villages in the overworld, so they randomly generate. You can do this with json files in 1.18 but because I used 1.17 there was a lot of code involved. I recommend doing this in 1.18 lol because its a lot easier xD
Thanks for checking out my mod! :D
Cool showcase, watching it got me thinking about how you might incorporate the lore into the dimension, were you going to have the lore all be found through the dialogue you have with the different races (maybe some you might only discover on different playthroughs depending on your starting race to keep some parts more ambiguous until you find out when playing a different race that may give you a different snippet of lore from their side of things), or were you also going to include written books into some of the structures like some other mods do? (could be done through doing a chest or more creatively, lecterns, for instance the lectern in the school structure could have some random school stuff written in it when you find it for extra flavor or something)
Wow! These are great ideas! :D I was going to have each race tell the story, and pieces of lore could also be found in the occupations you'll have in future updates, but now I'm definitely going to use books as well! Thank you very much for your suggestion, and watching my video! :D
No prob! After playing with my modpack for awhile I've learned that sometimes mod creators will add books, signs or even little details (like the detention chair lol) into their structures to liven them and make them feel like a living breathing place which I find really refreshing compared to the normally samey structures that vanilla has (with the exception of the secret underground igloo lab which felt unique and felt kinda spooky and mysterious the first time discovering), so it's nice to incorporate stuff like that when you can, that can really go a long way in structure building :D
Also, if you were going to go down the route of having some lore bits specific depending on your race (so you can have something new to discover on another play through), you could also allow players to discover all those interactions in one playthrough through disguises that make you look like a different race (functionally it would be as good as leather but it would make npcs treat you as if you were whatever race your disguised as if you had the full set on) that way people wont have to create multiple characters to get all the bits of lore (if you do go with this option anyway) but you could also have unique dialogue for npc that are normally hostile and will say something about how they see through your disguise (or alternatively the disguises make them friendly to you and their none the wiser) (it was too long for me to make into one comment so the next post is a continuation of this idea)
As for how to make these disguises you could maybe buy cloth from the respective npc and with enough you could make your disguise (in the case of roseians who cant trade with the oni, you would have to be disguised as a race that the oni are neutral to before trying to trade. Just a thought for making the dialogue accessible to all players (as for getting the dialogue for a human using a disguise, you would have to buy a rarer type of cloth from the fairies who have some knowledge of the overworld and might have some on rare occasion to sell you) (sorry for all the reading i'm making you do, lol)
No it’s fine! Thank you for all your comments! :D The disguises are also another really cool idea and that made me think of spying for your race’s army! (Im planning on making it so that you can be a soldier in the game)
Your ideas have big brain syndrome and I really appreciate your input :D
I just have ambitious ideas but not enough modding knowledge to make it lol, was planning on practicing using mcreator to make a void dimension underneath the bedrock (had a mod already that extended the y level more that what 1.18 already does to make it work) that your supposed to retrieve a special material from to upgrade your stuff to continue in my modified modpack (the idea was to alter the mods I was using to include lore books for the story of the modpack i'm making as well as altered recipes for balancing, problem is I only started using mcreator and idk how to use blockbench to make custom mob models, hoping i might find some useful guide that might help, until then i'm looking at cool mods to incorporate into my modpack
So far the current the lore reason all these mods are in a single minecraft world is because of an anomaly (have to figure out what it is) that had caused elements of different worlds to merge which might be fine on its own, but the merging of worlds has also caused a mysterious plague to spread making mobs more aggressive and stronger overtime while causing the world to gradually decay, but until i'm more experienced in mcreator and block bench, my own custom stuff for the modpack will be taking a backseat for now while I test compatibility between mods for my modpack
Wow that is a great idea! I had no idea what I was doing either starting out lol XD you made a good choice starting with mcreator I think :) it helps you to code and create stuff and make modding much easier imo. It gets a bad reputation but I think its a great tool to learn and develop stuff.
I made a discord server (Link on the bottom of the mod page) so you if ya want you can check it out and maybe I can help ya with some stuff. I can tell you will make awesome mods tho!
Hey guys! Sorry for the delay, but the alpha is out now! (finally lol)
There are major improvements in it! So if you want, check it out and lemme know what you guys think! :D
