This wiki page is here for legacy reasons only. Older versions of MCreator used to have this feature or the feature does not need extended documentation anymore. Nevertheless, we kept the page for users of older versions.
IMPORTANT NOTE: MCreator 2021.2 and upwards no longer support 1.12.2 at all. Nor native, nor with the plugin. We do not have the means to maintain this plugin for a Minecraft version that old. If you are interested, you can fork the 1.12.2 plugin and develop your own version from there.
Making mods for Minecraft 1.12.2 was possible up until MCreator 2020.2. If you want native support for 1.12.2 mods, use this version. Keep in mind this version has absolutely no support and forum topics addressing this version will be removed.
1.12.2 generator plugin
Since 2020.3 and up to 2021.1, it is still possible to make 1.12.2 mods using MCreator via the 1.12.2 generator plugin. You can get the plugin on the plugin page.
From the plugin page:
About the plugin
Although we no longer support or encourage the use of 1.12.2, we still want you to update to newer versions. Most of the new features are not supported in it, though, but feel free to open pull requests.
This generator only works on MCreator 2021.1
1.12.2 support
We no longer support 1.12.2 by any means. We only officially support the versions supported in the latest stable release. All forum topics addressing older versions will be removed.
What to do?
Generally, there are two realistic options (1 being the suggested one):
- Leave 1.12.2 and start using the recent Minecraft versions
- Use MCreator 2021.1 with the 1.12.2 generator plugin as this will give you the most bug-free experience possible for that old Minecraft version. Keep in mind absolutely no official or community support is to be expected if you go that route.
Should you make 1.12.2 mods?
As indicated above, it is generally not a good idea. Check out the video below to get a better understanding of why this is the case.
