Although we no longer support or encourage the use of 1.12.2, we still want you to update to newer versions. For this reason, I updated the Minecraft 1.12.2 generator to support 2020.3. All new features are not supported in it, though, but feel free to open pull requests.
Keep in mind you need to install the plugin yourself. You can support development by contributing features (eg. add missing features from 2020.3) on https://github.com/Pylo/MCreatorGenerator-Forge-1.12.2/releases.
Contribute to https://github.com/Pylo/MCreatorGenerator-forge-1.12.2.
This generator is made to support 2020.3 and 2020.4 when released, but as said, it is not officially supported and not encouraged to be used.

Please help me to understand this. I am new to this, and working on a very basic mod for 1.12.2.
With this plugin, I should be able to make just basic items, a GUI and Overlay, on a 1.12.2 version with the newest version of MCreator... am I understanding this correctly?
I just will NOT be afforded the newest features of MCreator for 1.12.2 MC versions.
Please do correct me if I am wrong.
That is correct, although some features have been ported to 1.12.2 by the community, see changelog on the plugin page for more info.
I also cannot for the life of me figure out how to edit my comment, despite seeing others clearly (edited) comments.
I read what I could before posting my question, even initially downloaded the other version of MCreator to work on my idea that I specifically wanted to be for MC 1.12.2, but learning the interface was obviously the first step. But youtube videos and even the wiki page is up to date, and it seems as if I was at a loss to even learn the program unless I updated.
So, I have updated, but then found this plugin and my hope were, I could work on my mod, with the updated MCreator, so it is easier going to at least learn with what sources there are being more up to date versions of the program.
Didn't want to post another reply, sorry I am new to this forum too... obviously.
Noone can edit comments.
Hooray. Modding will be easier. I find it more dun modding on 1.12.2. Maybe because 1.12.2 forge is the easiest to download.
Dun = Fun
Autocorrect, I'm on a phone.
1.15.2 or 1.14.4 is no harder to download. If this is your only concern, please use newer versions. Even if you use the plugin, keep in mind there is NO support for 1.12.2 here, you are on your own.
My biggest concern is that my mod wont be compatible with other mods. I also find 1.12.2 more fun. I think because I like the older versions.
Alright, but keep this in mind:
Ok
Honestly, there is NO reason to make mods for 1.12.2 anymore unless you are making a custom mod for a modpack on that version, the forge community has moved on to newer versions and you won't get 1.12.2 modding support on the Forge forum(or discord) either
1.12.2 generator got updated to the 2020.4 release version. Download on https://mcreator.net/plugin/64513/minecraft-1122-generator
Thanks to all contributors that added some new features from 2020.4 to this generator!
1.12 is now perfect. I just found out on Curseforge someone ported Orespawn to 1.12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will put a link to it. https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/orespawn-reforged-mgz
Now I will play 1.12 again for a bit to play with orespawn with 1.9 combat instead of 1.7.10
Actually 1.12 doesn't even have waterlogging. I can't play without waterlogging.
