I'm making the recipes for tools and armor in my mod right now, and I'm not entirely sure what a shapeless recipe is? I tried looking at the forums, but all of it is saying how to make it, not what it is. I can't find any solution, anybody care to give a helping hand?
A shapeless recipe is a recipe with no shape. For example, you can craft a flint and steel in all the ways you want: flint on top and iron on bottom, flint on center and iron on left, etc. You just need to put an iron ingot and some flint in a crafting grid to make a flint and steel.

No, you shouldn't.
Can I give you a tip on making recipes?
Mcreator recipes aren't "smart", so you sometimes need to make a lot of different recipes for a single item.
For a sword, for example, you can put the ingredients both in the center, at left and at right, so you need 3 recipes for it.
For a pickaxe just 1 recipe.
For an axe... 4 recipes. You need to make a recipe when the axe is at left, at right, when it's in the center facing left, in the center faving right...
For a shovel, like a sword, 3.
For an hoe, like an axe, 4.
For the armor, 2 for helmet, 2 for boots, 1 for chestplate and 1 for leggings.
Making recipes properly is a lot of work, and JEI will be filled with duplicate recipes, but if the player sees a bad recipe he will think that the mod is a bad mod even when it is a good one :(
Honestly, I don't think I'm going to do that lol. I'd much rather just stick to it being the center, cause not many people use the sides unless they're rushing or lazy.
Raol, you are right about the recipe "smartness". If you would mind, you can open a ticket and I will try to fix this in future updates.
