Paint is a mod that adds in different blocks of varying color into your minecraft world. Paint also adds in a new ore, set of armor, set of tools, and two items. Below will give an overview on the parts of the mod.

Lead Ore:

Lead ore is the new ore in the mod. It has the normal ore texture, but with dark blue chunks in it. The ore spawns at depths at or below y=32, 32 blocks below sea level. This ore can be mined with a stone pickaxe or better.

Lead Ingot:

Lead ingots are one of the most important items in the mod. A lead ingot can be obtained either by smelting lead ore in a furnace, or by dismantling a block of lead. Lead ingots are used to create armor, tools, and blocks in the mod (Fun Fact: Every block in the mod requires at least 1 lead ingot to craft.)

Block of Lead:

A lead block is a bluish-gray block crafted with 9 lead ingots. It can also be turned back into 9 lead ingots again if you so desire.

Lead Armor:

Lead armor is a decently strong, bluish-gray armor that is capable of defending the player rather well. Lead armor is both more durable and slightly stronger than iron armor, but it is overshadowed by diamond armor. Lead armor is crafted using only lead ingots. Lead armor can be considered "Poor Man's Diamond Armor" because of its strength.

Lead Tools:

The lead tools (Pickaxe, axe, shovel, and hoe) are bluish-gray items that are capable of doing work. Lead tools are crafted like all other tools in the game, using lead ingots and sticks. Every tool made of lead has 425 durability, which is about double of iron, but only 1/4 of diamond. Lead tools are faster than iron ones, but slower than diamond or gold. Lead tools can mine anything an iron tool can mine, but not a diamond (So no obsidian mining). (Fun Fact: A lead pickaxe is the slowest pickaxe capable of insta-mine with a haste 2 beacon and an efficiency enchantment.)

Lead Sword:

A lead sword is a bluish-gray broadsword dealing the the same amount of damage as an iron sword, while having twice the durability. A lead sword can be crafted using lead ingots and a stick.

Paintbrush:

The paintbrush is an item that is used to create all of the paint blocks. The paintbrush stays in the crafting grid after crafting with it, meaning you only need one (Unless you lose it.) The paintbrush is crafted with 2 sticks, 1 leather, and 2 string at a crafting table.

Paint Blocks:

There are currently 24 paint blocks in the game as of 1.12.2. Almost every single block has the same "formula" for crafting. Paint blocks are solid color blocks that are about as strong as cobblestone in terms of resistance and hardness. Below are instructions on how to craft all of them.

Red, orange, yellow, lime, green, light blue, cyan, blue, brown, purple, pink, magenta, black, white, light gray, and gray: 1 Paintbrush, 1 Lead Ingot, 7 Dyes

Navy: 1 Paintbrush, 1 Lead Ingot, 4 Blue Dye, 3 Black Dye

Crimson: 1 Paintbrush, 1 Lead Ingot, 4 Red Dye, 3 Black Dye

Ender (Dark Purple): 1 Paintbrush, 1 Lead Ingot, 4 Purple Dye, 3 Black Dye

Maroon: 1 Paintbrush, 1 Lead Ingot, 4 Red Dye, 3 Purple Dye

Bronze: 1 Paintbrush, 1 Lead Ingot, 4 Yellow Dye, 3 Black Dye

Peach: 1 Paintbrush, 1 Lead Ingot, 2 Red Dye, 2 Orange Dye, 2 Yellow Dye, 1 White Dye

Tan: 1 Paintbrush, 1 Lead Ingot, 4 Brown Dye, 3 White Dye

Neon: 1 Paintbrush, 1 Lead Ingot, 6 Lime Dye, 1 Glowstone Dust

(Fun Fact: Paint blocks are both more solid in terms of color and more vibrantly colored than concrete.)

Golden Paintbrush:

The golden paintbrush is an item that, unlike it's normal counterpart, is not used in the crafting of other blocks, for now. The golden paintbrush gives the user dyes when it is right clicked anywhere. *The brush has a 15% chance of giving the player an individual dye. However, since there are 16 of them, the brush can give you anywhere from 0 to 16 total dyes.* The golden paintbrush is very unique in that doesn't have durability, however, it can still break. Every time you use the brush, it instead has a 1% chance of completely disappearing from your inventory.

*If the short explanation was still confusing, look at it like this: The brush has a 15% chance of giving you a red dye, a 15% of giving you an orange dye, a 15% chance of giving you a blue dye, etc.

Upcoming Features:

  • More paint blocks
  • More uses for the golden paintbrush
  • Paint slabs???
