MCreator Has Become Too Complex—I'm Giving Up

I have been struggling with MCreator for a long time now, and I feel like I need to share my experience with the community. I wanted to create a Minecraft mod, but with each new update, MCreator has become more and more complex, to the point where I can't work with it anymore.

I have tried everything:

  • Watching tutorials (but they are too advanced).
  • Asking for help (but I don’t get the guidance I need).
  • Even using AI tools like OpenAI, but the complexity is still too much.

I feel frustrated, stuck, and hopeless. I have been crying because I wanted to create something amazing, but the new versions of MCreator are not beginner-friendly anymore. It feels like the software is made for advanced programmers or university-level developers, not for regular people who just want to make mods.

I started using MCreator years ago, back in version 1.7.3, and it was so much easier back then. Now, in 2025, with the newest updates and upcoming snapshots, I feel completely lost. I can't continue modding because the complexity is too much for me to handle.

This is not fair. I wanted to make something great, but MCreator has made it impossible for me. If you are reading this and you understand my frustration, please let me know. I feel like I am the only one struggling, but maybe I am not alone.

Thank you for reading. I just needed to say this because I don't know what else to do anymore.

I understand where you're…

I understand where you're coming from, but MCreator is going to have to up the complexity to create, well, more complex mods featuring more robust mechanics.

You are exaggerating a bit in my opinion, it's still really easy to create basic mods. It has evolved a bit past a basic mod creation and is moreso leaning into a way to create Minecraft mods through user-friendly UI, to the point where it might become a standard for mod making one day (you can edit raw code through MCreator). I am still really bad at making mods, but I've done some cool stuff in the past and I intend to keep doing so for the most part.

MCreator could use some more beginner-friendly documentation, but recently, a lot of strides have been made to make making certain types of things easier. As an example, world gen. Now you have features and actual, real structures to work this (as far as I know, the old "structures" weren't really structures, explaining why you couldn't find them via /locate)

It's about as easy to create basic mods as it was maybe 2-3 years ago. You can just do more stuff with it, like custom damage types and villager trading.

Now, that's so easy to say,…

Now, that's so easy to say, but this is something that I want to say to someone else.

So, you said that 2 or 3 years is easy. Well, I've been on this platform much longer. When I look at my account, I have been here for 5 years and 2 months. Maybe even longer, because I started using MCreator back in version 1.7.3, which is very old.

However, over time, people say that I need to learn, adapt, and start small by watching tutorials or making easy projects. But that does not work for me.

Why Small Steps Don't Work for Me

🔹 I cannot learn something small. My brain doesn't work that way.
🔹 If I work on something small, I completely forget what I learned.
🔹 I need a huge, detailed explanation to understand something.
🔹 If most people can learn from an 18-page guide, I need 100 pages to fully process it.

So, when people say, "Just watch a tutorial" or "Start with something small," it does not help me. The way I learn is different, and MCreator does not provide enough long-form explanations for people like me.

Why I Can't Keep Up With MCreator Anymore

🔹 People who have used MCreator for 2 or 3 years are adapting quickly.
🔹 They understand every new update and can keep making mods easily.
🔹 But for me, it takes much longer to process changes.
🔹 Every time the software evolves, I fall further behind.

Even if I had a new PC and better technology, it would still be too complex for me to follow because:
✔ I have to watch out for malware when using old versions.
✔ The community does not accept older versions of mods.
✔ Every time I start learning, a new update forces me to start over.

I Feel Trapped and Stuck

So what can I do? Nothing.
Basically, nothing.

MCreator has changed so much that I cannot follow anymore. If you cannot understand my situation, then I don’t know what to do.

I just needed to share this because I feel stuck, frustrated, and left behind.
