MCreator 2 Roadmap Discussion
Mon, 12/09/2019 - 18:29 (edited)

MCreator is a big success in Minecraft's modding community. During the last 5 years of its existence, MCreator has changed a lot, ranging from adding various mod types and options to improve them by adding events, custom drops, emitting particles, shooting arrows and much more. As the MCreator developed, there have been many changes that changed the way MCreator worked and the way you interacted with it. Many of the things were inspired by you, the community.

Last month, we updated the website, the new home of MCreator and we did that for a reason. With that done, we are happy to announce you the plans for MCreator 2. It will come with a whole new user interface and fix many bugs that came with the current version. This version doesn't exist yet, so we want to give you the word, by allowing you to shape the new MCreator in the way you would like it to be.

This forum topic is for you to discuss developer's ideas and suggestions for the new MCreator 2. We are going to be taking the ideas on other forum topics and let you discuss them.

Notice: MCreator 2 is just a concept at this moment. There is no release date yet, nor release date timeframe.

Mcreator 2 sounds cool…
Tue, 11/21/2017 - 20:07

Mcreator 2 sounds cool.

suggestions:

  • More uses for models and .java model files. Like custom modeled armor in the GUI instead of coding it in.
  • A snap to grid option in the GUI maker so the boxes will line up easier
  • A mob tick event
  • a tick event spacer ex: tick event>every 5 ticks> event
  • larger builds
  • when modeling mobs, a feature that allows more than one model part to act like a body part ex: head> head1,head2,head3. I know this is already pissible with coding because ive done it, but it would be cool for saving time. But its nothing major.
  • more customization for portals would be cool, like an end portal option, or a custom design option where you build the portal frame and make it into a schematic, then in the mcreator you can edit where the portal will appear inside.
  • a teleporting mob option in the mob maker, so they dont have to be EXACTLY like endermen, just have the ability to teleport.
  • an “if killed when on fire” event for mobs for things like droping cooked foods like pigs and cows do
  • the ability to unlock mods in the code then relock them to be edited in the creator
  • lumenated mobs and entities like bullets that glow when shot.

I always find the stuff you recommend is very specific and advanced. Like the rpg thing, thats not something to be an asset in the creater but weather to be modded in with codes and events because all RPG’s are different, and again are based on code and events not just one option...

I've probably got no say in…
Wed, 11/22/2017 - 12:02

I've probably got no say in this but still here's my suggestions:

One - maybe give an option to make mob models more advance as we all know all you can do is (especially with techne) animate five parts of the model to be limbs and a head. Maybe make it easier for people to be able to add more than one part of the model for a limb. I for one cannot code but find it slightly frustrating when I've made a good model only to be disappointed with the fact that only certain parts of the model actually move. I'll make a video to demonstrate what i mean by this if necessary.

Two - Make more options to the gun system. e.g. Reload time, amount of bullets before each reload, fire rates, to be able to make the guns 3D and maybe aim with them. that sort of thing

Three - Be able to edit the player model of the player. as for one I'm trying to work out how to make a werewolf so the player could transform into a werewolf with abilites. like for example the howling moon mod does that.

I hope these can be of any help. I am aware that people could probably already code these in but for people who don't know how to code and find it difficult such as myself, it would be amazing if these were implimented as maybe an advance tab on each preset section where you can edit that modification to your liking so maybe add more parts to a certain limb. granted the model pieces which add up to a limb should have the same offset location if you're using Techne. Or with the guns you could just add thoughs as optional if people still prefer the guns stats as they are. And with the werewolf thing, Maybe create a tab for the player to have a command to change the player's look.

I will just write down my…
Thu, 11/23/2017 - 13:37

I will just write down my wishes:

- let mobs and chests with there included Items spawn with scematics

- the ability to create dealer guis (best example in the noppes custom npcs mod)

- (do custom 3d models rotate in players direction now?)if not add pls.

And the dreamthing...

- multiple mc version support (or even mc C# support BUT just after they gave us the ability to add things in the game not just change things.)

but i know this would be a lot of work, because you need to code everything for every forge version ... from the ground up if you want to add new features right?

But im still hopeing :D

I've brought some of these…
Thu, 11/23/2017 - 15:56

I've brought some of these up before, but I'll mention them again because I think they are important:

Fluid creation should allow for events to happen with them, such as "When mob/player collides with fluid" and "When fluid collides with block" to allow us to make fluid-fluid collision "reactions" (like how water hitting lava turns the lava to obsidian. When a fluid is made, it should also allow you to use the fluid bucket item forge creates as an item which can be used in making crafting recipes.

Biome creation should work so that the underground block can be a mod-introduced block of any material type. Right now, it seems to only work with vanilla blocks (when I say "work", i mean allow trees to generate).

Mob creation should have options to create flying and water mobs that are hostile, and you can probably get rid of the "mob label" feature. I have no idea what it is intended to do; I only know that if you put something there, your mob will not have its name displayed in the statistics for mob kills or appear in the text display if it kills you. There should also be a way to change the frequency of how fast a projectile-shooting mob can shoot.

Mob spawning should also include a better way of setting spawning locations. Right now, you can have a mob spawn in one vanilla biome and any custom biomes, or everywhere, including the nether and the end. It should be set to have multiple biomes be selected, or have it be spawning by dimension ID.

Dimension portal igniters should have an option to change their durability, and the portal itself should have options for being constructed vertically (like it is now) or horizontally (like an end portal). There should also be an option to have ores spawn in end-type dimensions, and an option to change how high the sea level is. On top of that, there should be a quaternary block option for nether-types which would replace magma.

There should be an event option to open a vanilla GUI, especially that for crafting tables and chests

There should also be check box options for making blocks rotate in the y-direction (like a furnace, chest, or observer) and/or in the X and Z directions (like a log or pillar) and a similar option to make items be rendered like tools/weapons while in hand. Both of these can be done with pretty simple code, but I find that there are three problems with this:

1- You have to lock the code or MCreator will overwrite it (sometimes)

2- If you do lock the code and edit it, but then want to go back and make a regular change (like a texture change, what tab it goes under, etc.) you have to unlock the code, and recompiling will overwrite it

3-If you switch workspaces, all of the blockstate files revert to that of a normal block/item

Considering that block rotation is something many people want to have, I think that a quick option to allow it would be great.

There should also be a way to restrict plant generation to specific biomes

There should be a way to import pre-made animated textures and their mcmeta files rather than having to put one together frame-by-frame every single time

As far as splitting recipe creation goes, I am against splitting recipe creation form block/item creation entirely. It would become very irritating to have to make a whole new element just for a block/item's crating recipe if it has one. The main reason I (personally) would do this now is if my recipe has to be shapeless or I want it to have enchantments. I think that just having an option to make recipes to be shapeless during the block/item's creation would be the best option, along with the "smarter" crafting that Nuparu00 mentioned.

That's basically my sophisticated rant. Sorry for the long list.

Superpowers, basically instead of adding potion effects to armors. Add a tab where you can make your own gui like jinryuus dragon block c, where you can update your stats which is gonna upgrade your strength, speed and such. Make it also so that you can learn abilities and such

Id REALLY Love these models because mcreator doesn't have as much focus on mob models and it makes it relatively hard to make mobs, which I why there is only four or five in weapons of fame, even with all the weapons there is nothing really to fight without using other mods

I really also want that second and first option... don't know why mcreator would bother as much with the third idea but no idea is a bad one

Wed, 11/29/2017 - 03:02

Mcreator really need custom armor model. On youtube, many requested for custom model, but the coding was hard for them(for me too). To import the 3d model for the armor, it should use techne or obj. files. This is what i am wishing for mcreator 2! Thank you!

(If you add this custom model for armor in mcreator 2, many of us will definitely like this.)
