The lorekeeper greets you with open arms, as a story like this is yet told. ''For this story is yours,'' the writer continues ''Are you of the knowledgeable yet wicked Witches, or perhaps, a desert raider that wields their axe like it were lightening wreathed in the tempest itself... yes, I sense trouble in you, perhaps you prowl in the night, embraced by shadow, lying in wait for those who rest.''

This is a character creation mod for those in need of a bit more notes in their lorebooks, or a mild sense of progression that you can feel every step until level 35. I have been developing this mod for quite some time, and it has become a jovial hobby project of mine. I have two updates in mind and one in the works.

The two core features presented in this mod are eight attributes that affect your character's capabilities that you gradually increase across thirty-five levels. The other mentioned feature are more than sixteen classes to choose from, with a custom class creator in the works. The attributes are as follows. --

  1.     Strength

Increases physical damage and jump height. Additionally, restores more durability on damaged items with the repair hammer.

  2.     Intelligence

Broadly enhances spellcasting capabilities and understanding of workstations. Buffs your pilfering capability.

  3.     Willpower

Willpower enhances certain spells and decreases the saturation cost on a variety of spells. Increases melee knockback.

  4.     Speed

Increases movement speed, bow rate of fire, and attack speed.

  5.     Agility

The ability to dodge and land a hit. [pvp combat remains the same, currently.]

  6.     Endurance

Dictates how many hit-points you permanently gain per level, and base physical [armour] toughness.

  7.     Personality

Dictates how well people find you, increasing the likelyhood you will be forgiven for crimes and haggle with villagers.

  8.     Luck

Affects almost everything. Bonus chance to pilfer.

Honestly, there are more classes than I currently have time to go over, though I will say that all are uniquely crafted for a preferred starting methods and attribute scaling. They fall into three categories, the Warrior, the Magi, and the Thief. Generally, the Warrior classes make for Hack-and-Slash playing and make use of the vanRPG repair hammer. Magi classes have the capability harness all vanilla potion effects as spells that you can channel. Thieves, currently being reworked, start with bonus emeralds at the moment.

Spellcasting, in which I want to be as balanced and as fair as possible, does not cost mana. A spell channel costs saturation over the duration of the channel. The drain is static across spell costs, meaning that decreasing channel duration and a full stomach is imperative to practical spellcasting. When you reach the threshold that a lack of saturation drains hunger value, you will become exhausted -- meaning it is time to eat. At any time after casting a spell, regardless of a successful cast, you may press 'R' to recast the last preformed spell.

Agility is a notable attribute and must be addressed here. Your character is no longer guaranteed to hit something when they turn red and recoil at your blade. In melee combat, agility is necessary. To date, I've yet read a warning of agility to melee playstyles that was provided by a developer. To save your time, AGILITY IS NEEDED IF YOU PLAN ON DAMAGING SOMETHING CONSISTENTLY WITH A MELEE WEAPON.

I suggest you begin a new world to freshly begin a new character on.

A NOTE TO THE MCREATOR MODERATOR

This mod has nothing that can be expressed in picture form outside of in-game UI's. I hope I can upload the mod with the picture I've created, as I too would find a picture like this more intriguing than a picture of an unexplained character sheet UI and I am no graphic designer myself. That is all.

    DEVELOPMENT STATUS

0.0.7b beta release. I've ambitious additions for this mod, and the current working update is the Charismatic Thief Update. Charismatic Thief plans to tweak personality interactions and giving Thief classes a vanrpg original feature to them, such as the Magi's spellcasting or the Warrior's repair hammer.

The current working update is the Hobbies as Jobbies update. Please bring your attention to the patch notes.

ADDITIONAL MODS

I strongly suggest you install the forge versions of RPG Hud and Better Combat for minecraft version 1.20.1.

Changelog

Added in 0.0.7b

8 hobbies to level up and gain xp through. Perks are obtained through completing milestones in these hobbies. These milestones are 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, and 99. Your character gains exp for each level made in these hobbies, scaling with hobby dedication. Currently there are only two hobbies with milestones up to level 75 -- Woodcutting and Mining.

Woodcutting - Tree felling, with enough time and effort, will be a exp source. Boosts efficiency with Axes. Going forward, will provide bonuses to strength. Train this skill faster by using better axes, especially those of the colour boasted by the sun.
Crafting - Craft items to train this hobby. Going forward, will provide bonuses to Intelligence. Train this skill faster through crafting tools.
Farming - Harvest crops to train this hobby. Going forward, will provide bonuses to Willpower. Currently, only scales with wheat. Train this skill faster by harvesting with hoes.
Acrobatics - Jumping and taking fall damage trains this hobby. This hobby will return resistance to enviromental damage such as fall damage and fire, and eventually, provide a bonus to speed.
Combat - Train this skill by slaying. Train this skill faster by slaying monsters. This skill, going forward, will provide a bonus to agility.
Mining - Train this skill by breaking overworld stone and ore. Train this skill faster by mining ores and better pickaxes, similar to Woodcutting. Will later provide a bonus to endurance.
Building - Train this skill by building. Will eventually bolster your character's personality.

Removed traditional exp gain. Experience is now solely gained through the training of hobbies. Leveling as it used to be was relegated in hopes of finding an animal you could slay until you got to 55 int to use a furnace. I personally find the new level scaling slower, but more engaging and varied.

Forecast for 0.0.7c
All attributes have milestones to 75.
XP threshold tweaks.

Changelog starts at 0.0.6b

Good or bad, I'm open and looking forward to feedback. If there are any questions regarding mechanics, such as crafting stations, I'd be more than happy to answer.
