So... you might have tamed dragons, explored distant realms, mastered the arts of Red Mana and defeated the darkness...

...or you might have not.

Anyway, are you ready to GO TO SPACE now?

Event Horizon is a sci-fi mod where you leave the Overworld behind to explore new planets, galaxies and even different timelines and another universe!

I think space is a very undervalued theme in the modding community. While there are many space mods, few of these can stand out to the many magic/adventure/tech/vanilla-like ones, and they often are very grindy and may feel unrewarding.

Event Horizon instead, will take a different approach. Like Trailblazer (the mod which actually inspired this one and that I'm still waiting for), you will be able to go to space very early (as soon as you manage to get a diamond pickaxe, so basically nether-tier). Unlike some of my other mods (cough cough RaolCraft), there will no grind at all, you will just have to adventure through the planets you procedurally discover. And each of them will tell its own story: like an rpg mod, but set on space.

The mod is divided in chapters; right now, the mod is in early alpha and only Chapter 0 (getting to the Moon) and the very beginning of Chapter 1 (space pirates) are available.

Chapter 0 - One small step for a player, one giant leap for Moon Rabbits

MOON

After some brief arguments with alien robots, you find a strange spaceship and its quite loquacious AI. You teleport yourself to the Moon, which looks like a peaceful desert inhabited by some friendly colonisers... at least for the moment.

Chapter 1 - Y'arr space pirates attack! - WORK IN PROGRESS

pirates attack

Looks like someone wasn't happy about your visit to the Moon...

The mod is still very little, but it already features many interesting mechanics:

  • Visit your own spaceship and talk with its AI, which can analyze items and tell you random tips (as well as horrible puns)
  • Get to the Moon and experiment its different gravity and lack of atmosphere
  • Survive to enemy incursions
  • Talk with NPCs and trade with them (includes cutscenes!)
  • Complete quests for NPCs and claim rewards
  • Gather asteroids scattered across the space and extract useful materials from them
  • Find radioactive meteorite scattered across Mars which mutate nearby mobs into evolved forms
  • Collect unique items like torchlights that light your way or lightsabers that deal more damage on consecutive hits
  • And much more!

Available dimensions:

Outer Space

outerspace

Where your spaceship is located, surrounded by copious asteroids.

Unlocked in: Chapter 0

Moon

moonastronaut

A rather peaceful satellite, until the space pirate nation attacked.

Unlocked in: Chapter 0

Mars

itsamemars

Filled with mobs and loot, this is the ideal place for grinding, but will you survive?

Unlocked in: Chapter 1

Venus (Coming Soon)

Screenshots are all low quality because of no environmental light but the mod actually looks different when tried ingame

The mod is designed to be very intuitive (recipes unlock automatically after completing advancements, AI gives tips and analyzes items, etc.) so there isn't a guide yet but I might consider creating one in the future :)

I wanted to play with this mod in Creative Mode (I want to build on the moon) but I can't figure out how to go to space. Can you help me?

You should search for a structure in the Overworld, but if you are in a flat world, just place a Violet Teleporter (I don't remember well the name, anyway I think you will recognise it), right-click it with a Space Energy Core to power it, then right-click it again to be teleported to your spaceship.
You can then teleport to the Moon by inserting a Moon Spacemap in the central block of the ship's controls.

You know i find it funny, you are one of the only modders 1, making a story for a mod, 2, Making only original mods, 3, doing a bunch of code, and 4, famous without any of the website ranks

Well, actually,
2- my mods aren't that original: RaolCraft is a bunch of random stuff (now it might be more like an elemental magic mod, but still, a bunch of random stuff) inspired by the big mods that were popular on MCreator at the time; Pyromancy is clearly inspired from Botania; Hodge-Podge III is the successor of another mod; Event Horizon is inspired from a mod sir_cookie planned to make, Trailblazer; etc.
3 - I have never coded a single mod, too lazy to learn :P
4 - It isn't really a positive fact that I have never contributed to the website trough donations, wiki articles, etc...
But yes, it's true that most modders who won MOTW multiple times also have some ranks :)
