Welcome to Pyromancy!

Inspired by Botania, Pyromancy is a magic mod based around fire, the Nether and Red Mana.

In Pyromancy, you can explore new structures, fight new monsters and combine the power of Redstone and Red Mana to rule the world!

shurikenfireThere are many new blocks that can help you automating your world. You can find blocks that place plants, trap mobs, destroy other blocks and much more! It's up to your creativity how to use them! :)

manaredWhile this is mainly an automation mod, it also adds a bit of adventure by improving the Nether with some structures, plants and trees and adding new monsters, a new miniboss, a lot of new potions and a new weapon!

At the moment this mod is very little, but new updates will be released soon.

FAQ:

What does Pyromancy mean?

It comes from Greek and means "fire divination", but in this context it is "fire magic".

Is this a clone of Botania?

No, it isn't. While it is mainly inspired by that mod, I tried to be as original as possible. I actually have never completed Botania in survival so I only know its basics. They are two different mods and you can play both of them at the same time.

Where can I see the recipes?

To see the recipes, use JEI or any other mod that makes you able to see modded recipes.

Where can I find more info about this mod?

If you want more info, go to the official Pyromancy topic. In that topic there is a guide and every block and item is documented.

Does it support Ore Dictionary?

Yes, it does! You are free to make an addon, a cross over feature, etc. for this mod if you want! There are too many ore dictionary entries to be written here, so you'll have to see them ingame using a mod like this.

Does it require any other mods to work?

It supports connected textures. This means that if you download the Connected Textures Mod some blocks in the mod will have the connected textures, but if you don't, the blocks will have the basic unconnected textures but the mod will just work fine. Some structures might look weird, though, so it is highly recommended to download that mod.

Could it cause crash with other mods?

It shouldn't. I tested it with many mods and it didn't. If you spot a bug or crash, you can report it here or in the official topic.

Can I include it in my modpack?

Yes, of course! If it is public, you can tell me and I will link it here. :)

Can I repost it?

If you want to repost it in a forum, yes, but please ask for permission here first and provide a link to this mod. If you want to repost it on Curseforge or you want to claim you made it, then no. It already happened once, but it's not nice.

Can I use a Cave Root from RaolCraft Omega to craft the Pyromancer's Wand?

Yes!

Why is this FAQ so unusually long?

I don't know.

I am open to suggestions :D

PS: that grey thing on the Nether Cyclops' face is a ring, not a smile! XD

Changelog

+ = added, - = removed, ~ = changed, ! = fixed

Alpha

1.0 - 10/2/2018

+Wizard Pigman House

You can find Wizard Pigmen here.

+Wizard Pigman

A neutral mob that drops Rotten Flesh and Fragment of Nether Pearl.

+Fragment of Nether Pearl, Nether Pearl

+Obelisk of Absorption

Generates Red Mana if it is surrounded by lava. It can sometimes turn that lava into Cobblestone.

+Fiery Brewery

Consumes Red Mana. Used to make Vials.

+Empty Vial, Vial of the Dragon, Vial of the Golem

Vials are like potions but stack up to 16 and have different effects.

+Pyrocream of the Dragon, Pyrocream of the Golem

+Pyromancer's Wand

Tells you the amount of Red Mana in a Pyromancy Block.

1.1 - Redstone Conversion - 10/8/2018

+Obelisk of Redstone Conversion

Place a block of redstone on it and it will turn it into 9 Red Mana

+Immobilizer

If an entity is colliding it, it will consume one Red Mana, slow down that entity and make it do a little jump (so it won't consume 1 Red Mana per tick and istantly destroy your Red Mana sources)

+Vial of the Centaur

Makes you fast, able to jump high and strong for a bit. It also causes nausea though.

+Pyrocream of the Centaur

~Nerfed Obelisk of Absorbption

~Now the Fiery Brewery consumes 10 Red Mana rather than 1

~Improved Pyromancer's Wand: now if you right click on a Pyromancy blocks that has nothing, it will say it has nothing, if it has an item that is not Red Mana, it will say it has no Red Mana.

! Fixed some bugs

1.2 - Tweak Update - 12/24/2018

+Block of Nether Pearls

+Vial of the Cyclop, Pyrocream of the Cyclop

Makes you hasty, resistant and blind for a bit.

~Now Obelisk have a different block model (the Obelisk of Absorption even has an animated one)

~Now the Fiery Brewery consumes less Red Mana

~Done some little tweaks

! Fixed some bugs

1.3 - Creating and Destroying - 3/3/2019

+Farmer Block

Used to plant saplings on grass/dirt similarly to the Destroyer Block (using Ender Pearls and Nether Pearls). Due to a bug that will be fixed in MCreator 1.8.3, all the saplings will be turned into oak saplings, but I don't think this is a major issue.

+Nether Log, Nether Planks

Currently useless and unobtainable. Nether Trees will spawn in Pyromancy 1.4+.

~Now the Destroyer Block works. It destroys blocks (that aren't command blocks, piston heads, etc.) that have an harvest level of 2 or below. You can choose the block to destroy using Ender Pearls and Nether Pearls and when the Destroyer Block is powered by redstone it will destroy the block chosen and consume 3 Red Mana.

~Now the Pyromancer's Wand can help you see what block will be destroyed/planted by the Destroyer Block/Farmer Block

~Now the Nether Pearl's max stack is 16

! Fixed some bugs

1.4 - Anether Update - 05/01/2019

+Nether Altar

A block that consumes Red Mana to do some rituals: for example, right-click it with a Diamond to summon a Nether Cyclop or right-click it with a Nether Cyclop's Ring to get a Fiery Shuriken

+Nether Cyclop

A miniboss that drops its ring. Can sometimes summon Evil Pigmen Wizards, heal himself a bit or gain some potion effects.

+Evil Pigman Wizard

A minion of the Nether Cyclop. It behaves very similarly to the Pigman Wizard except it's always aggressive and drops nothing

+Nether Cyclop's Ring

A Nether Altar can turn it into a Fiery Shuriken

+Fiery Shuriken

A ranged weapon that consumes nothing, just its durability. When it is fully damaged it turns into a Nether Cyclop's Ring again

+Red Mana Binder

Used to bind 2 blocks (for example the Destroyer block and a block)

+Nether Trees

They spawn on little flying soul sand islands, because I couldn't make them spawn on the ground

+Nether Bookshelf

Currently it's just an alternative to a vanilla bookshelf

+Vial of the Phoenix, Pyrocream of the Phoenix

Makes you levitate a bit while recovering some health

+Endless Red Mana Source

For creative mode only.

~Now you bind blocks using the Red Mana Binder rather than all those Ender/Nether pearls

~Now the Farmer Block can place more plants (all the kinds of saplings, all kinds of crops, sugar canes, nether wart and deadbushes). Obviously every type of plant has different conditions that have to be respected before being planted (the block won't waste your red mana)

~Now there no longer are GUIs in the mod

~Now the Pyromancer's Wand is a bit more advanced but no longer removes fire from you

~Some more tweaks

! Fixed some bugs

1.4.1 - Bugfixing Update #1 - 05/16/2019

~Now the Red Mana Binder can no longer bind blocks that are too far away

! When using the Fiery Shuriken in creative, it left a huge amount of Rings of the Cyclop

! When the Fiery Shuriken is consumed, it gives 3 Rings of the Cyclop

! Removed strict Forge version check

1.5 - Grinding Update - 08/16/2019

+Added Connected Textures support

+Obelisk of Leaf Burning

A new obelisk... Finally! It burns nearby leaves to generate Red Mana. It is the best obelisk right now.

+Altar of the Fiery Imp

Consumes Red Mana to summon and heal a mischievous Fiery Imp that cannot move and attacks mobs from the distance just to attract them near to the altar. It can be good for mob grinders.

+Tricky Grate

It is a solid block until someone tries to walk on it without sneaking. If one does, it will open, making the mob or the player fall there.

It also is the first block with connected textures in the mod.

+Powered Nether Pearl

You can use a Nether Pearl and 64 Red Mana on a Nether Altar to create this pearl used for crafting recipes

+Nether Bark

+Finally added the advancements

+Some placeholders for future features

~Now the Immobilizer no longer makes mobs jump. It instead checks if the mob is already slown down before working (and the duration of the slowness is heavily increased): this means it will consume much less Red Mana than earlier

~Now the Immobilizer can be disabled with redstone

~Now the Destroyer and Planter blocks no longer print text on the chat (they now instead use the dispenser fail sound)

~Improved the Nether Cyclops boss fight: now the Cyclops has armor and is immune from arrow attacks but has littler resistance effect. The evil pigmen also despawn very quickly now.

~Many more tweaks

! Fixed block rendering in inventory, in hand, etc.

! Fixed more bugs

1.5.1 - Ore Dictionary Update - 11/10/2019

+Added ore dictionary support to everything

+Fire Tongue

A poisonous plant found in the Nether

+Hellshrub

A deadbush found on Soul Sand in the Nether

~Renamed Pigman Wizards to Pigmancers and Evil Pigman Wizards to Evil Pigmancers

Let's pick a new name for Evil Pigman Wizards... Pigman Shamans?... Necromancer Pigmen?... EVIL PIGMANCERS?!

(yes, it literally happened this way)

~Made the Nether Cyclops battle a little bit more earlygame: now the Evil Pigmancers only have 10 life and the Cyclops no longer destroys blocks. He now spawns on player location rather than altar location though.

~Done a few other tweaks

!Two Fiery Imps spawned at time

!Fixed a few other bugs

1.6 - Pigrate Update - 05/30/2020

After a long time, here's yet another untraditional update, this time adding PIGrates (sorry), a new mob and a few utilities... But don't worry, many new obelisks and red mana blocks are also coming soon! :D

Do you like pirates? Well, I do not, so here's a good reason to kick out those pigs from the Nether! >:D

+Zombie Pigrate Ship

A flying (or buried, if it had an accident) ship found in the Nether which contains a few Zombie Pigrates as well as some loot (including a precious Wither Skull!)

+Zombie Pigrate

Aggressive mob found in the ship. Doesn't despawn, drops rotten flesh and gold nuggets.

+Zombie Pigrate Captain

The ship's captain: stronger, better armored and richer (more loot yayy!).

I didn't come up with a stupid enough pun for this...

+Shadowlurker

An aggressive mob found in the Nether which drops a few Shadow Scales on death.

+Shadow Scales

Use these on a Nether Altar (with at least 16 Red Mana) to get 16 Red Mana Warps

+Red Mana Warp

If you right-click (or whatever keybind you use) with some Red Mana in hand while it is on a Pyromancy block it will directly feed it with Red Mana. Can only be properly harvested if destroyed while holding a Pyromancer's Wand in hand

+Nether Planks Slab, Nether Planks Stairs

~Pyromancer's Wand can now also be crafted using Cave Roots rather than Blaze Rods if RaolCraft Omega is installed

~Done a few more tweaks

! Probably fixed some bugs too but I can't remember XD

1.6.0.1 - Just a little patch... - 05/30/2020

~ Updated Italian localizations (se qualcuno di voi riesce a trovare un gioco di parole in italiano sui Pigrate me lo dica grazie :D)

! The Red Mana Warp didn't work properly with Destroyer and Farmer Blocks

1.6.0.2 - Anether patch - 06/26/2020

~ Improved some names and translations

! Fixed some important bugs involving recipes (you could craft Nether Pearls with air for example)

Beta

I have just realized this mod has always been in alpha even if it actually is stable, so this update will be the first "beta" one XD

1.7.0 - Village and Pigmage - 08/16/2020 - 202 mod elements

~Updated the mod to 1.14.4

+Obelisk of Sacrifice

Turns Rotten Flesh and Bones into Red Mana (1 Item = 2 Red Mana)

+Item Absorber

Attracts items from the distance. Only has one slot which can only hold one item (and not a whole stack).

+Obelisk of Energy, Red Mana Converter

The first turns 500 FE into 1 Red Mana, the second does the opposite (the numbers will probably be changed).

+Nether Planks Door, Trapdoor, Fence and Fence Gate

+Stripped Nether Log and Stripped Nether Wood

Can be obtained by stripping Nether Log/Wood with any vanilla axe. If you wish to add compatibility with your mod, just set your axe's tag as "axes" (in the "minecraft" group)

+Fire Elf's hut

A little structure found in the Nether

+Fire Elf

What? Elves? What are they doing here in the Nether?!

+Molten Core

One of them is always found in the chest of the Fire Elf's hut

+More advancements and puns

~Rebuilt the structures: they do now support loot tables

~Updated textures to match 1.14 Jappa's style

~Recipes are now dynamically unlocked while completing advancements

~Nerfed Fire Tongue duration of poison

~Moved all spawns eggs to the Pyromancy tab

~The Pyromancer's Wand does now display the amount of Red Mana contained in any block tagged as "forge:pyromancybaseblock"

~Nether Pigrate ships can now rarely spawn as a "shiny" red nether brick alternative

~Leaves burner now recognizes any leaves tagged as "leaves"

~Now each recipe has its own group

~Improved advancements

~Fire Tongues and Hellshrubs spawn is temporarily disabled since they got very buggy in 1.14.4

~Done a few more tweaks

! Structures do no longer spawn under lava or on bedrock

! Fixed some bugs

1.7.1 - Bugfixing Update #2 - 09/29/2020

~Hellshrubs and Fire Tongues can now naturally generate in the Nether again (but they now have a different ID)

~The Obelisk of Absorbtion does now turn lava into obsidian rather than cobblestone

~Added more tags for better ore dictionary support

~Updated more textures to Jappa's style

~Improved the Farmer Block

Now plants can be inserted using hoppers (right clicking will no longer work). It is also able to plant more things, like tall grass, ferns, flowers, cacti and more. It also got better conditions for placing plants based on tags.

~Made structures more common

~Done some little tweaks

1.7.2 - Buzzy Nether Update - 09/29/2020

~Updated the mod to 1.15.2

Well, that's it.

I used the same entity NBT variable (for the player) in both mods.
There is a mob in Hodge-Podge which, after trusting you, tells you about an hidden treasure in Raolcraft and sets a variable to true. A Raolcraft feature (can't tell you which) checks for the variable and if true, gives you the reward (only for the first time, every player can claim this reward only once).
It's nothing really advanced, so you can't check for items from other mods or make crafting recipes with them.
